Who you are
- Ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects and stakeholders (ranging from end-users to C-suite)
- Ability to mentor and coach end-users how to maximise value from data products

- Ability to use data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, etc.) to provision advanced data products using SQL and (some) Python, ideally using dbt
- Experience using cloud based data infrastructure (AWS, GCP, etc.) to create and manage data pipelines, and knowledge of data ingestion techniques and managed services
- Ability to use visualisation tools (Tableau, Looker, PowerBI) to create accessible and insightful dashboards
- Demonstrate an intermediate knowledge of git and basic knowledge of Terraform
- Experience within the FinTech sector is nice to have, but not essential
What the job involves
- You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust data pipelines and analytical solutions to support our data-driven decision-making processes
- You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects that span data ingestion, transformation, scheduling, storage, analysis, and visualisation
- You will collaborate closely with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable and efficient data solutions and data products that drive business impact
- Partner with our data engineers to design and develop end-to-end data pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources into our centralised data warehouse or data lake
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data subject matter experts, analysts, product managers, and business stakeholders, to understand their data requirements and objectives
- Participate in project scoping and planning sessions to define project goals, milestones, and deliverables
- Conduct data discovery and profiling activities to gain insights into the structure, quality, and complexity of the data sources
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications, data models, and data transformation logic, ensuring alignment with business objectives and data governance policies
- Develop interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualisations using tools such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or custom-built solutions
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their reporting needs and preferences, design intuitive and insightful visualisations that communicate key insights effectively
- Iterate on dashboard designs based on user feedback and evolving business requirements, ensuring that the visualisations remain relevant and actionable
- Implement dashboard performance optimizations and best practices to ensure fast loading times and responsive user interactions
- Implement data quality checks, validation rules, and monitoring processes to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of our data assets
- Define and enforce data governance policies, metadata standards, and data lineage documentation to maintain data quality and integrity
- Monitor data quality metrics and KPIs, investigate and remediate data quality issues, and track improvements over time
- Collaborate with data stewards, data owners, and subject matter experts to establish data quality requirements and standards for new and existing data sources
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, tools, and best practices in the data domain
- Experiment with new methodologies, frameworks, and technologies to enhance our data capabilities and drive innovation within the organisation
- Share your knowledge and insights with the team through documentation, internal workshops, presentations, and knowledge-sharing sessions
- Actively contribute to the development of data team best practices, standards, and guidelines, and champion their adoption across the organisation

As the digital economy has grown, so too has the market for 'Banking-as-a-Service' - the process of ensuring the overall execution of financial services over the web. As businesses expand online, they have opportunities to be able to build and sell various financial services or add fintech features to their existing products. Railsr (formerly Railsbank) facilitates companies doing this easily, where it would previously have been a huge undertaking.
Essentially, Railsr is making financial services more inclusive. Previously, the complexities of legacy technology, managing global compliance and ancient bank processes have created a slow, complex and costly experience for customers. Now, through Railsr's Open Banking Platform and APIs, financial innovators have the means of creating the financial services, products and experiences their clients want.
In 2022, shortly after becoming Railsr, the company benefitted from the embedded finance boom and raised a large funding round to support its ongoing expansion efforts. Early in 2023, however, the company had to undertake an emergency sale and shift of control - though it seems to have remained positive throughout, citing the sale as a "pivotal moment" that will enable it to "rebuild momentum, drive change and return Railsr to growth."
