Role
Who you are
- 6+ years of corporate treasury experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or related field required
- CTP/CPA is a plus
- Strong understanding of cash management, corporate finance, and accounting
- Proven record in working as a Treasury Analyst in an international organisation
- Knowledge of the banking industry and technical knowledge of bank products as well as foreign exchange and payments
- Experience with executing FX Trading and managing pooling structures a plus
- A self-starter who will work to continuously improve Treasury processes while maintaining a thorough control environment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills; attention to detail
- Well-organised ability to prioritize, multi-task in a dynamic and constantly evolving environment
- Someone who thrives under pressure, and able to effectively plan and organise to deliver on a range of conflicting priorities
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
What the job involves
- The Senior Treasury Analyst on the Tax & Treasury team will support Etsy’s growth by working closely with a network of key banks and Etsy’s partners to ensure smooth day-to-day execution
- You will collaborate closely with many of Etsy’s organisations, including but not limited to Accounting, Analytics, Payments and FP&A
- You will be facilitating daily treasury operations, providing accurate cash reporting, and assisting with bank structure and risk management activities
- Direct cash management operations to include perform day-to-day cash management functions including accessing daily bank reports, calculating and preparing cash positioning for multiple accounts and processing wire transfers, and maintaining forecasting projections daily
- Preparing daily, weekly, and monthly cash forecasts and comparing actualised performance against forecasts. Optimise analysis to support the short-term vs long term investing opportunities
- Perform bank account management activity, which includes facilitating opening and closing of bank accounts, providing KYC documentation to banking partners, updating banking signatories, and implementing changes to banking services
- Work with Sr. Treasury Manager to maintain and rationalise the Etsy’s choice of key global banks including the analysis of bank fee structures, services, relationships, credit levels and counterparty credit quality/exposure
- Assist with risk management by identifying/recommending strategies to minimise foreign currency exchange exposure
- Partner with Payments Operations to facilitate the smooth functioning of Etsy Payments platform; ensuring the appropriate amounts of different currencies are available for disbursement to sellers around the world
- Review and drive improvements in cash management ensuring financial obligations are met in accordance with company policies and procedures for Etsy House of Brands
- Develop, update, and monitor Treasury operational policies, be responsible for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance for Treasury Operations, and support audit requirements
- Support internal Controls and External Audit by providing information in connection monitor cash management activities to ensure compliance
- Effectively work with and support internal business partners including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Legal, Tax/ Legal teams and Payments Operations
- Adhere to month-end cut off schedules for reconciliations of all cash-related accounts, all month end processes, and all related journal entries; Assist with quarter-end and ad hoc information requests as needed
- Act as a treasury liaison with Etsy’s business units in setting up new banking accounts, services, and handling bank inquiries and related matters
- Evaluate and recommend banking products, services and platforms as appropriate
- Perform internet banking system administration activities and recurring user access and entitlement reviews

Our take
Created as an alternative to more corporate eCommerce sites, Etsy is a peer-to-peer (P2P) website where users buy and sell handmade crafts, vintage items, art and photography. The online marketplace works similarly to Amazon and eBay, only with an emphasis on unique items rather than mass-produced merchandise.
Since its IPO in 2015, it has managed to hold its own in an increasingly competitive eCommerce industry, including from Amazon's handmade section that launched in 2015. Further, by providing sellers with ownership over pricing and branding, the site is attractive for those wanting to set up a business on an established platform.
However, the seller-side of Etsy is not without problems. A hike in transaction fees and the introduction of mandatory marketing fees for artists with high turnovers created significant discontent amongst sellers. Despite this, Etsy continues to connect artists and consumers, attracting shoppers with its message of extraordinary, handmade and affordable products.
