Role
Who you are
- 3+ years as a Technical Product Manager or similar (platforms, APIs, integrations, internal tools)
- Strong technical literacy (APIs, data flows, system interactions, integration basics)
- Clear, structured communicator able to bridge engineering, operations and business teams
- Data‑driven problem solver with strong analytical thinking
- Comfortable in complex, multi‑stakeholder service environments
- Collaborative, pragmatic and adaptable in a lean, evolving organisation
- Language: English C1 required; German is a plus
- Nice to have: experience in EV, energy, IoT or hardware‑software ecosystems
What the job involves
- Drive development of key ecosystem components, integrations and services
- Translate business and technical needs into clear requirements and concise user stories
- Coordinate API and system integrations across internal teams and external suppliers
- Prioritize work using value‑based frameworks in a multi‑stakeholder environment
- Manage Budgets for development initiatives and Design
- Empower local markets with tooling, documentation and support; unblock issues when needed in a lean setup
- Work closely with engineers on a daily basis to clarify scope, answer questions, and make implementation trade-offs
- Drive scrum processes in a software development team, coordinate related working packages with internal colleagues
- Take responsibility for product quality in your area and continuously improve how product work is planned, shipped, and maintained
- Facilitate alignment with Software, Hardware, Operations, Commercial and partners
- Support iterative delivery, small pilots and continuous improvement of ecosystem capabilities
Our take
Accounting for $16.6 billion dollars, the electric car charging industry is of growing importance to both the environmental and economic sectors. With sustainable energy now much cheaper than gas, fossil fuel leaders have much more incentive to invest in sustainable energy than ever before.
And that's exactly what Shell appears to be doing. Investing around $3 billion dollars a year in sustainable energy, Shell at least looks like its taking steps to cut down its fossil fuel reliance, despite still profiting heavily off the mining of fossil fuels. Ubitricity, a global software and hardware provider for electric car charging stations, is one of these investments.
Having gained partnerships with the likes of Siemens, who have a minority stake in the company, Ubitricity transforms streetlamps into charging stations for cars and is making headway most notably in the UK. Its acquisition by Shell indicates a strategy by large fossil fuel companies to have more influence in the sustainability sector. The results of this remain to be seen, but Ubitricity has proved itself to be an important part of global transitions away from fossil fuels.
