- Final year student of master’s degree from a Journalism, Business or Engineering school with specialized cursus in Marketing, Digital Communications or related
- A previous experience (internship and/or apprenticeship) in Sales or Marketing is highly valued
- Proficiency in Pack Office and an appetite for digital tools and platforms
- Strong notions in graphic design and knowledge of Adobe suite is valued
- Rigor, analytical skills and good writing skills
- Excellent communication (written and verbal)
- Professional or bilingual English is required
- French is a plus
- Eager to learn more about the insurance industry, and about climate, cyber and emerging risks, you are keen to discover and learn new knowledge and skills including technical and digital ones
- Your writing, analytical skills, and creative design enables you to make editorial proposals
- Excellent team player, you have the ability to work in a dynamic and multi-cultural environment and to interact with internal and external stakeholders in English
What the job involves
- Descartes Underwriting is seeking a Press Relations and Brand communications assistant in an apprenticeship to join our Marketing Team
- You will report to the Marketing & Communication Project Manager and you will be a key contributor to the deployment of external communications projects
- The applicant will be in close and effective cooperation with all business units and play a vital role
- Ex: Key messages and Q&As, press reviews coverage, media and journalists lists monitoring, global reporting, interviews and public opportunities support, thought-leadership content creation
- Ex: Creation of corporate formats and official presentations, corporate contents writing, awards dossier, briefs definition for design content creation and marketing productions
- Ex: Iconography research, creation of business cards, roll-up banners, leaflets and brochures creation for events, infographics design, short videos editing, liaise with printers for marketing materials, assistance for audiovisual productions
- Ex: Punctual help with communication plans, tracking activities monitoring and cross-functional projects

The corporate insurance market is undergoing a momentous shift driven by a changing climate, the growing impact of natural catastrophes, and a rise in emerging risks. Climate change has become a real risk to businesses - one nature report, for example, found that the US alone could lose over $500 billion across 22 sectors if rising global temperature predictions materialise. The need for effective corporate insurance has never been higher.
Descartes Underwriting is looking to revolutionise how we approach insurance. Taking on one of the insurance industry’s traditional methods - catastrophe (CAT) risk modelling - Descartes is leveraging new data sources and fusing them with a host of AI algorithms. This provides what it describes as a “product offering which covers the full spectrum of natural catastrophes and emerging risk exposures.” Its AI-driven parametric insurance model is highly disruptive, and has proven highly successful - just a few years after its founding, Descartes had already become the leading InsurTech player worldwide.
Following major funding, Descartes is looking to scale up its approach to corporate and public entity risk exposures, growing its technology platform, expanding into new lines of business and targeting larger deals. With an existing client base spanning hundreds of corporations including a host of Fortune 500 companies, Descartes looks set for big things in the coming years.
