Role
Who you are
- We are seeking a self-starter; a proactive and self-motivated individual who thrives in a dynamic environment and can independently initiate and drive projects to completion
- This is a hybrid role ideal for someone with a solid foundation in IT systems and cybersecurity best practices who is ready to take ownership of key tools and processes
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in IT support or cybersecurity
- Working knowledge of SOC 2 compliance processes
- Experience with administrative control of SaaS tools and access management
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- A proactive, systems-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
What the job involves
- We’re seeking a proactive and detail-oriented IT & Cybersecurity Associate to support our growing tech needs, maintain SOC 2 compliance, and help us stay ahead of cybersecurity risks
- Own the implementation and administration of cybersecurity tools, including MFA, single sign-on, and access controls
- Conduct regular internal vulnerability testing to ensure all devices and systems are protected
- Stay ahead of emerging cyber threats through continuous monitoring and proactive safeguards
- Lead SOC 2 compliance efforts: maintain documentation, track evidence, and coordinate with external auditors
- Ensure 100% audit readiness at all times by maintaining up-to-date compliance protocols
- Handle all aspects of onboarding and offboarding, including system access and device setup
- Serve as the admin for key tools such as Asana, HubSpot, Microsoft Office, and other collaborative platforms
- Centralize tool management and standardize user access across the organization
- Act as the go-to person for IT troubleshooting and basic network support
Our take
Afficiency is aiming to streamline the life insurance purchasing process by offering digital distributors a platform which allows them to quote, underwrite and deliver policies in minutes via API.
Considering that on average, it takes between three and six weeks to get life insurance, Afficiency is clearly on to something with its platform. The fact that its solutions are delivered via API is also key, as it allows sellers to continue operating on their own native stacks.
The nearly $4 billion insurtech market is extremely competitive, but the background of Afficiency’s leadership team offers encouragement. CEO Mark Scafaro was previously at MetLife, while he and fellow Co-founder Ravi Arasan have over three decades combined experience from American Express.
