Who you are
- Requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Related, a related field, or a foreign equivalent
- Must have 2 years of experience in job offered or related occupation
- Must have 2 years of experience in React, Nodejs, Modern JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript
- Must have 2 years of experience in understanding of React Fundamentals: Mastery of React's core principles like components, JSX, state management, and life cycle methods is fundamental
- Must have 2 years of experience in Responsive and Adaptive Design: Skills in creating interfaces that adapt well to different screen sizes and devices are essential for PWAs
- Must have 2 years of experience in Service Workers and Offline Functionality: Knowledge of implementing service workers for offline support and caching strategies is key to PWA development
- Must have 2 years of experience in Performance Optimization: Ability to optimize app performance, including efficient data fetching, minimizing bundle size, lazy loading, and code splitting
- Must have 2 years of experience in State Management Tools: Familiarity with tools like Redux or Context API for efficient state management in larger React applications
- Must have 2 years of experience in Testing and Debugging: Proficiency in testing (unit, integration, end-to-end) and debugging skills using tools like Jest, React Testing Library, and Cypress; and
- Must have 2 years of experience in Security Best Practices: Knowledge of web security best practices, especially relevant for PWAs dealing with service workers and data caching
- Telecommuting work arrangement permitted: position may work in various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S
What the job involves
- Develop dynamic web solutions by leveraging expertise in JavaScript and applying skills in Ruby or Python to enhance application versatility
- Administer and optimize cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, employing Docker and Kubernetes to streamline deployment and scaling processes
- Construct and evaluate complex data structures and algorithms, orchestrating distributed systems for optimal performance and reliability
- Implement Test-Driven Development (TDD) strategies and manage Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, adhering to agile methodologies for swift and efficient product iterations
- Secure web applications by integrating best security practices and conform to regulatory compliance standards to safeguard user data
- Communicate effectively within cross-functional teams to design and synthesize collaborative solutions, and coordinate collective efforts towards common project goals
- Solve intricate technical problems with innovative thinking, formulating original solutions that push the technological envelope for software engineering
- Create, refine, and debug features within Zoom's Progressive Web Applications (PWAs), enhancing the platform's usability and feature set; and
- Ensure and enforce the security and compliance of Zoom’s web applications, vigilantly protecting against vulnerabilities and aligning with industry compliance requirements

Our take
Zoom reworked video conferencing when most people assumed it was a solved problem, with services from Cisco and Skype already ubiquitous in workplaces and homes. However, its videoconferencing infrastructure was simpler to use, faster and more flexible than any previous solution, and it swiftly took the world by storm.
Its success bred competition, however, and companies such as Microsoft and Google, along with numerous smaller communications firms, have begun making inroads on Zoom's formerly commanding lead. Additionally, as workplaces are mostly adopting a hybrid or flexible working strategy, some of its importance as a workplace tool is wearing off and it is recording a gradual decline in daily usage rates.
To counter these trends, Zoom is expanding its business offerings through product development and strategic acquisitions. Alongside many other large tech companies, it has battled through a difficult economic situation, but it nonetheless remains a profitable company and household name. Plus, its track record of innovation means it is still very much one to watch in the communications space.
