Role
Who you are
- 4+ years of consumer product marketing and/or consulting experience, preferably operating in a multi-market or global role
- Ability to use quantitative reasoning skills to inform strategies and tell a strong narrative. Proficiency in SQL preferred
- Strong command of quantitative and qualitative user research methods and applications, fluent in using data to make decisions, experience with growth marketing tactics, and deep experience partnering with B2C consumer product teams
- Experience simplifying complex concepts into impactful marketing
- Track record of driving strong growth and results through product marketing strategies and campaigns
- Experience collaborating with and influencing cross-functional teams while maintaining great relationships
What the job involves
- As the Senior Product Marketing Manager, you will work at the intersection of product development and marketing. You will be leading new product go-to-market strategy, product activation, and maximizing the lifetime value of our buyers and sellers at all stages of the funnel
- To be successful in this role, the Senior Product Marketing Manager will be a key partner in helping product teams articulate customer value and plan effective product delivery and launch while also advocating on behalf of marketing to ensure that product road maps support marketing strategies.
- You’ll operate in a highly cross-functional role, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Brand, Content, Analytics, Research, and Marketing to improve the buyer and seller experience through holistic and targeted marketing design to drive conversion, engagement, and retention
- This is a full-time position reporting to the Sr. Manager, Product Marketing
- Owning the product marketing strategy specific to Etsy’s core markets and market expansion plans
- Serving as a specialist on market-specific nuances, partnering with product and marketing teams to advise on opportunity sizing and prioritization across country-specific strategies
- Leading competitive analysis in individual markets to inform go-to-market plans
- Partnering with product, marketing and brand teams to determine what, where and how, and to whom we market key features and product launches, taking into account user needs and business objectives across Etsy’s core global markets
- Narrating the user journey, uncover user insights, and identify key user needs to focus product roadmaps on the largest business opportunities
- Serving as a key collaborator between the Product and Marketing organizations
- Defining the target audience, craft clear positioning statements and clearly articulate and communicate Etsy’s unique value proposition for buyers and sellers
- Developing and aligning on-site and off-site marketing plans in collaboration with channel owners and the broader marketing team
- Setting clear, measurable product marketing goals and track progress against them making continuous recommendations for how we can improve impact

Our take
Created as an alternative to more corporate eCommerce sites, Etsy is a peer-to-peer (P2P) website where users buy and sell handmade crafts, vintage items, art and photography. The online marketplace works similarly to Amazon and eBay, only with an emphasis on unique items rather than mass-produced merchandise.
Since its IPO in 2015, it has managed to hold its own in an increasingly competitive eCommerce industry, including from Amazon's handmade section that launched in 2015. Further, by providing sellers with ownership over pricing and branding, the site is attractive for those wanting to set up a business on an established platform.
However, the seller-side of Etsy is not without problems. A hike in transaction fees and the introduction of mandatory marketing fees for artists with high turnovers created significant discontent amongst sellers. Despite this, Etsy continues to connect artists and consumers, attracting shoppers with its message of extraordinary, handmade and affordable products.
