Who you are
- We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer who sees the world differently, who explores and lives to beat the system and challenge it, and who will help build our next-generation cloud workload security offering
- Experience designing and building high-traffic, large-scale microservices and real‑time data pipelines with a critical focus on high availability, ultra‑low latency, and maintainability
- Experience developing resilient, cloud-native solutions and real-time data pipelines
- At least 5 years of experience with Python or Go
- Experience working with databases (both SQL and NoSQL)
- Proven experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Experience with Kubernetes - significant advantage
- Hands-on experience with React (or similar modern JavaScript framework) – strong plus
- Hands-on experience with Kafka (or equivalent streaming platform) – strong plus
- Hands-on experience with IAC (such as Terraform, or equivalent streaming platform) – strong plus
- Strong understanding of software design principles and patterns
- Self-driven, motivated, and independent with excellent communication skills
- Ability to quickly dive into new products and understand their inner workings
- A degree in Computer Science/Software engineering, or comparable experience
What the job involves
- You will own and lead the architecture, design, and implementation of a multi-disciplinary cloud-native software platform that will serve thousands of users (from enterprise & public sector clients across the globe, incl. some of the largest companies globally) and billions of events daily as part of SentinelOne's security offering
- You will be building distributed systems and end-to-end, high-traffic, practically zero‑latency, real‑time data pipelines that serve all our customers in the area of Cloud security
- As a software engineer at SentinelOne, you will face extraordinary performance and optimization challenges due to the scale of our cybersecurity services
- Leading, designing, and developing SentinelOne’s cloud workload security offering using cutting-edge technologies and services
- Participate in architecture, design, and technological research while considering costs, performance, scale, monitoring, etc
- Collaborate with multiple teams and stakeholders to execute the product roadmap
- Work in a CI/CD environment
- Learn new technologies, mainly in the areas of complex distributed systems in the cloud
Our take
Cybercriminals are now leveraging the power of automation to make the current threat landscape too advanced for a lot of legacy antivirus software. SentinelOne is a cybersecurity company that matches this automation with machine learning-focused software designed to help businesses defend against online attacks.
The company expanded the scope of its business from the endpoint security market to three markets valued at a combined $30 billion, including the corporate endpoint security and IT operations management markets. This gives SentinelOne a bigger potential customer base, although it also puts them in direct competition with more focused cybersecurity companies, in addition to its biggest competitor, CrowdStrike.
When the company went public in 2021, it made financial headlines as the highest-valued cybersecurity IPO ever, which gave SentinelOne a market capitalisation of $10 billion. However, it's since fallen to around $ 4 billion. It has subsequently launched S Ventures, a $100M fund, through which SentinelOne invests in cybersecurity startups and has expanded its partnership with major tax firm KPMG to accelerate cyber investigations and responses to threats.
