Who you are
- We're looking for someone ideally in the range of 8-12 years of experience, but will consider candidates outside of this range
What the job involves
- As a hands-on Engineering Manager at Ledgy, you will lead a world-class team of diverse engineers that solves the difficult problems of our customers—making it as easy as possible for them to harness the power of equity
- You will be responsible for managing a team of 4-6 reports, working alongside them in a hands-on role as a partial IC, as well as defining the roadmap with the product manager and designer, and leading the engineering team rituals of the team
- This position reports directly to the Head of Engineering
- In the first 30 days:
- Be paired with an onboarding buddy who will help to introduce you to Ledgy, equity and anything else
- Set up your developer environment and get familiar with the codebase and development workflow
- Review 10 PRs to understand code quality standards and team practices, and make small contributions to get hands-on experience with the development process
- Transition management of your first direct report(s) from another engineering manager
- Get to know the PD leadership team: our CTO, our Head of Engineering, Head of Product, and our Engineering Managers and the rest of the product development team
- Be onboarded into engineering leadership team and get introduced to our processes
- In the first 3 months:
- You’ll have an understanding of Ledgy as a product and the roadmap for the next quarters
- Work alongside your team to keep velocity and quality high, unblocking the team on PR reviews, coordinating work, taking over tickets yourself and getting them shipped
- Establish a rapport with your reports and coach them in regular 1:1s
- Are involved in regular roadmap and priority reviews across PD, and are definining the roadmap of your team in collaboration with Product and Design
- Are becoming a key voice in bigger architectural decisions
- Taking an active role in hiring, possibly leading one role as a hiring manager
- In the first 6 to 12 months:
- Are a respected technical leader in your team, supporting everyone to perform at their best
- Guide and enable your team reports in their personal development
- Perform performance reviews with your reports (2x a year)
- Be an owner for leadership projects within engineering and product development
- Be a trusted partner for product management and design

Our take
Ledgy was founded as an equity management platform for high-growth companies, allowing them to focus first and foremost on growth by handling cap tables, employee participation plans, and investor relations. It also offers investors a personalised dashboard which allows modelling flexible funding scenarios, valuations and exits.
The company realised that manual Excel-based processes or inflexible legacy systems aren't optimally efficient for high-growth companies. They often make equity plan management a full-time job, taking time away from company growth. Ledgy's key features include document handling automation, legally compliant document signing, customised PDF investor reports and scenario modelling. In doing this, it takes a privacy and security-first approach.
Ledgy now has hundreds of high-growth clients, including NA-KD, Dott, yamo, and Codility, offering products for finance, human resources, and investors. In addition, Ledgy has a comprehensive sustainability policy: its office is driven by a green energy provider, its servers run on Google's renewable energy infrastructure, and it's working to become carbon neutral through partnerships with the likes of SeaO2, an ocean carbon removal company.
