Role
Who you are
- 8+ years of software engineering experience or coding experience
- BS / MS in Computer Science or a related technical field
- Created and supported APIs (REST, JSON/HTTP, GraphQL)
- Typescript or Kotlin development experience in writing, maintaining, and debugging code in a production environment
- Domain knowledge such as message queues, sharding, auto scaling, and access patterns
- Strong technical foundations for patterns and anti-patterns in software engineering
- An inner product champion who takes pride in knowing and planning what great can look like, not just good
- A self-starter and choose action. You look for problems and inefficiencies in code and find elegant solutions to them before they become major blockers
- An advocate for the end-user. You think about how our customers will interact with the service and champion positive changes
- A systems thinker. You think about how your designs will affect other aspects of the service and how it will evolve in the future

What the job involves
- This is an L5 opportunity. Successful candidates typically come from staff or principal-level roles and are recognized for establishing technical direction, leading large-scale initiatives, and shaping engineering strategy across organizations
- Stand up new services that improve the safety, reliability, and accuracy of our access control systems
- Examine, improve, and challenge the existing modalities of how we manage ACS today
- Collaborate with team members to bounce ideas off each other and see delivery of value to customers from start to finish
- Design MVPs with strong technical foundations, and iterate on them with product feedback
