Who you are

  • Fluent in English and French
  • Several years of strategy / business development / partnerships experience
  • Deep understanding of programmatic AdTech (e.g., SSPs)
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

  • Experience of working with, or in, key publishers / inventory owners
  • Experience of working with, or in, key advertisers / agencies
  • A proven track-record of defining and delivering new business initiatives

What the job involves

  • We are looking for an innovative business development and partnerships manager to help develop our third-party programmatic business in Europe
  • In this role you will be responsible for some of the most strategic and high-value relationships in Amazon Ads
  • You will strike new access deals with new supply partners and strive to increase activation with existing partners
  • The role will report directly to the Head of Media Access & Activation (Europe) and will be part of a dynamic, fast-growing, and external-facing team
  • Establish publisher / partner connections and integrations
  • Build these relationships by driving spend across formats and deal types
  • Work directly with agencies and advertisers, alongside Amazon Ads’ sales teams
  • Partner with multiple engineering and product teams
  • Be commercial and creative
  • The Media Access & Activations team was created in 2024 with the sole purpose of growing Amazon Ads third-party programmatic business
  • The team focuses on executive-level partner relationships to drive growth
  • The team works with Amazon Publisher Services (APS) and a range of Supply Side Platforms (SSPs) to connect sellers to buyers. The team sits in the Amazon DSP organisation

Our take

Amazon is the world's largest online retailer, and is well-known for its disruption of well-established industries. The company is present in numerous verticals, including cloud computing with Amazon Web Services, AI with its range of Alexa devices and a global marketplace more commonly referred to as 'the everything store'. Acquisitions include Ring, Twitch, Whole Foods Market, and IMDb.

More recently, Amazon has been focused on leading the "third wave in digital advertising". Many businesses are now shifting ad dollars to retailers, which before would have been spent with online media platforms. Amazon's seen great success in the space, with its revenue from advertising now higher than its Amazon Prime membership scheme, audiobooks and digital music combined. This growth is particularly impressive considering its digital ad rivals (like Snap, Alphabet, and Meta) have suffered declines due to wider macroeconomic factors and Apple's iOS privacy changes.

Despite its dominant market position, Amazon will continue to be challenged over the next decade, including sustaining AWS's cloud dominance in the face of Google and Microsoft. On top of this, the company's e-commerce division is facing profitability problems despite its 2023 post-IPO debt funding of 8 billion. It will need to find new ways to stay above their competitors.
