Role
Who you are
- Proven work experience of minimum 3-5 years as a Sales Engineer
- Previous role selling software that involve API integrations to other systems
- Deep API expertise: RESTful and SOAP; ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot. Proficiency with Postman (mandatory); OpenAPI/Swagger; webhooks; rate limiting; retries; idempotency; versioning. Apigee (nice to have)
- Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development and web technologies (HTTP/HTTPS, JSON, XML, etc)
- Enterprise sales experience: complex multi-stakeholder cycles, RFPs/RFIs, and value-based selling
- Ability to forge strong, long-lasting relationships with customers
- Vigorous listening and analytical skills to determine customer needs and then translate them into effective technical solutions
- Strong ability to creatively explain and present complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner
- Quick and adaptive learner who can get on board with new technologies and initiatives
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent presentation and creativity skills
- Willingness and availability to travel up to once per quarter
- Demonstrated ability to work independently. Self-motivated and results-oriented

Desirable
- Freight and logistics industry experience; know what FCL, LCL, AWB, TEU mean and how forwarders/carriers and TMSs operate
- Exposure to TMS/ERP platforms (e.g., CargoWise, Magaya, Descartes, SAP TM) and rate/booking workflows
- EDI standards (EDIFACT/X12), IATA Cargo-IMP/Cargo-XML; developer portal and API documentation experience
- Cloud familiarity (AWS/GCP/Azure), serverless basics, and monitoring
What the job involves
- We are looking for a seasoned, hardworking, smart and over achieving Sales Engineer with proven experience and a passion for selling technology solutions to freight executives
- You will be responsible for selling into new prospects together with your team guidelines as well as farming back into existing customers to ensure high usage and increase of our mutual business. Measures of success include new customer acquisition / adoption / satisfaction and contribution to the overall sales team and business success
- Support the commercial team with solution selling into prospect account base
- Partner with sales executives to plan, prepare and execute on strategic deals in complex sales cycles
- Run discovery and successfully match customer pain/requirements to proposed solutions
- Work with technical teams to create and deliver powerful presentations and tailored demos that clearly communicate our value proposition
- Manage all technical aspects of RFP/RFI responses
- Effectively communicate client needs to the Product and R&D teams for future product enhancements
- Proactively sell and enable integrations of our API suite with third-party software providers; follow up to ensure prompt launches, well-executed marketing plans, and system adoption
- Work side by side with teammates to support API-related questions from our SaaS customers
- Successfully match customer pain/requirements to proposed solutions
- Work with the technical teams to create and deliver powerful presentations and demos that clearly communicate the uniqueness of the value proposition
Our take
Whilst purchasing a plane ticket online is an easy transaction, booking freight shipments on that very same plane remains a time-consuming, complex task. To remedy this, Spanish-founded WebCargo (which is owned by Freightos) offers a platform with various cargo booking solutions.
Currently deployed by upwards of 10,000 forwarders, the platform supports the pricing and booking of cargo across over 40 airlines. WebCargo continues to bolster its offering, for example with its launch of a feature which enables digital interlining (where one airline sells services to a customer that are provided by another airline).
It is clear that WebCargo is committed to enhancing the value it brings to its clients, that include Panalpina, Hellmann and IAG Cargo. Recently, the company secured a partnership with Wideroe, the largest Nordic airline, and has also collaborated with Chapman Freeborn, a leading aircraft charter company, to bring additional global capacity from their global charter business to its platform.
