Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related fields required, and master’s degree preferred
- 3-5 years of previous relevant experience in industry or public accounting
- Proficiency with NetSuite ERP (other similar ERP systems), commonly used revenue recognition platforms, CRM systems that are integrated with those platforms, common reconciliation and close management tools, among others
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (complex formulas and use of BI tools such as power query preferred), with the ability to manipulate and digest large amounts of data required
- Strong understanding of the requirements outlined in ASC 606
- Proficiency in using AI tools to create or improve work-streams and analyze financial data
- Experience in corporate month-end closing cycle
- Excellent time and self-management skills with the ability to properly prioritize critical projects
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with other members of the team, members of other departments, drive progress toward meeting goals
- Adaptability and flexibility to assist with a variety of projects in a fast-paced growth-oriented environment
- Team first mentality and willingness to put the priorities of the team ahead of your own as that is the key to our success as a department
What the job involves
- We are seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant who will work with other Greenlight Accounting and Finance team members and Greenlight employees on various challenging assignments
- The successful Senior Revenue Accountant will be passionate about helping in a variety of different areas of need as we continue to grow the accounting operations
- This role will report to Greenlight’s Revenue Accounting Manager
- Prepare journal entries, analyze automated revenue postings, review contracts and sales orders with commercial customers, monitor day-to-day billing activities, perform financial analysis and support the month-end close process for all Greenlight revenue channels
- Prepare and maintain reconciliations for accounts associated with all Greenlight revenue streams and other accounts in support of the Accounting team
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of Greenlight’s different revenue streams with a focus on understanding the underlying activity to understand period over period changes
- Identifying opportunities within revenue operations to drive efficiencies and automate key processes
- Assist in the review of contracts and identification of key terms and conditions that could impact revenue recognition under ASC 606
- An ability to translate the requirements of ASC 606 and properly deploy these requirements into Greenlight’s new and existing revenue channels
- Work cross functionally with different stakeholders in the business (i.e., Engineering, Data Analytics, Analytics Engineering, Business Development, among others) to coordinate appropriate billing, data reporting, coordination of proper revenue recognition and deployment of new revenue streams
- Develop detailed project plans for departmental projects that outline key decision-points, data requirements, and stakeholders in order to support the deployment of new revenue streams
- Provide additional month-end close and other project related support to the Accounting team for other financial accounting tasks, including programs and arrangements unique to Greenlight
- Actively seek out and implement AI solutions to automate routine accounting tasks, support analytical capabilities, and improve efficiency of revenue accounting processes

The company serves millions of parents and kids with accounts distinguished by their easy-to-use money management tools and educational resources. Even Viola Davis, famed actress, told Jimmy Kimmel that she uses the fintech startup’s services to teach her daughter financial lessons.
Greenlight is now looking to expand its suite of products into more lucrative verticals. In particular, 2022 saw the launch of its first credit card product for parents. Like most credit cards, it will offer cashback (up to 3% on all purchases).
The supposed difference between Greenlight’s offering and others is that this cashback can automatically be directed to investment opportunities, framed as helping parents save for their children’s education. Greenlight’s advantage is the trust it has earned from millions of families. The startup’s long-term success will be determined by whether it can release these lucrative products without tarnishing this trust.
