Who you are
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership experience in roles
- Deep expertise in system architecture, reliability, and maintainability

What the job involves
- Building the OS for the built world is no small feat
- We’ll need to ship a LOT of high quality code in the coming years, and to do so, we’re building an engineering culture centered around craft, ownership, and collaboration. >25% of our engineers and product managers are ex-founders, and we hire for slope, not intercept
- Being a place where you can just build things requires talent density and some unique ways of doing things
- Define and drive the technical vision and architecture for Miter’s core systems and product lines
- Lead cross-team initiatives to tackle our most difficult and ambiguous engineering challenges
- Actively find new ways to elevate the engineering organization through mentorship, design reviews, and other tooling/process improvements
- We trust brilliant engineers to deliver magical customer outcomes and introduce processes and rules only when necessary
- Our technology stack (TypeScript everywhere!) and processes are designed to encourage engineers to run their projects end-to-end
- This usually involves writing technical blueprints, implementing full-stack solutions, and talking to customers directly to get feedback
- AI is turning 10x engineers into 100x engineers. We believe lean, talent-dense, AI-native teams will outship much larger teams with less talent density
- One of our core Miter values is “build the blueprint”. Writing things down clarifies our thinking and aligns our teams
- This also applies to building fundamental building blocks and abstractions that make developers’ lives easier

Miter is addressing the productivity issue in the construction industry. With construction expenses on the rise and many building companies still using HR and financial software originally developed in the 90s, Miter leverages breakthroughs in fintech infrastructure to create new HR, compliance, and financial software for construction companies.
It's all-in-one offering provides construction companies with payroll, labor compliance, and spend management tools that will help to save time and therefore bid on more public sector projects. Ultimately, most contractors outsource this type of work, so Miter saves money on employment too.
Founded in 2021, Miter has developed a sturdy and flexible platform which has a lot of promise. And now with some impressive funding, the company is ready to scale further to meet the needs of international clients.
