Who you are
- You possess a strong sense of leadership and teamwork, capable of designing, guiding and supporting a team of engineers to collectively achieve project goals

- You are a mechanical engineering expert who brings a practical understanding of electromechanical system and CAD development, able to oversee the complete design and engineering process with confidence
- A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 10+ years of design experience
- Experience in managing and leading design and test engineers by example for 4+ years
- Skills required for collaborating and working cross functionally by influencing the product designs
- Experience in successfully delivering mechanical designs and products from concept to production
- Excelled in delivering the product per project time line and deliverables within the budget
- Contributed to defining the product requirements, project time line and product costs
- Very good understanding of automotive product development and related test specifications
- Hands on experience with functional validation testing and related specifications covering thermal, environmental, shock and vibration test standards for automotive products
- Strong knowledge on CAD, design process and hands on with CAD tools like SolidWorks
- Working knowledge of thermal design and simulation
- Hands on with parts fabrication and product proto typing
- Proficiency across diverse manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, die-casting, injection molding and 3D printing
- Keen interest towards improving development processes, design documentation and team collaboration
- Required 3-5 days a week in the SF office
What the job involves
- As a Mechanical Engineering Manager at Hayden AI, your role is to design and guide development of our hardware product for computer vision and telemetry
- You'll lead our hardware projects and engineers through the design process, from concept to manufacturing
- You'll be at the forefront of developing groundbreaking electromechanical systems for computer vision and telemetry
- You'll have the chance to work on projects that have a real-world impact. Your contributions as a Mechanical Engineering Manager will directly influence the development of cutting-edge technology solutions
- You’ll have a critical role in cultivating a collaborative and inclusive work environment that places a strong emphasis on mentorship and consensus-building
- Lead mechanical design of new products, driving innovation and excellence
- Champion collaboration cross functionally with electrical, test, manufacturing and installation teams by navigating the design from concept to production and launch
- Develop product specifications, create design, perform design reviews and improve
- Generate working prototypes for proof of concept and customer demonstrations
- Lead hands on involvement with building, debugging, and maintaining product builds
- Develop test plans and processes, execute testing and guide validation of new designs
- Partner with vendors and contract manufacturers to fabricate mechanical parts and assemblies
- Seek out opportunities to make things work better - it's about continuous improvement
- Ensure deliverables for the project are on track and stays within project budget
- Take ownership of your part of the mechanical system, strive for performance and cost improvements, track and drive mechanical design process and compliance
Our take
Cities around the world are dealing with clogged bus lanes, blocked stops, and traffic violations that slow down public transit and put people at risk. It's a huge problem that most cities face, but one that's often hard to monitor or enforce effectively.
Hayden AI is tackling this problem with its smart, bus-mounted cameras powered by AI. They automatically detect when vehicles block bus lanes or stops, helping cities gather real-time data and tacke action to imprvoe safety and traffic flow. Already in use in cities like New York, LA, and now Barcelona and Braga, it's a neat idea and one that's keeping buses moving and riders safe.
Its work is more than just ticketing, it's about making cities smarter, greener, and safer for everyone and its been making big moves. It just wrapped up its pilot in Portugal that revealed nearly 8,000 violations in just three months, and launched the largest automated enforcement project in Europe in Barcelona. With over $193M raised, the company is certainly growing fast and turning head in the govtech space.
