Role
Who you are
- You’re a native app expert. You have 5+ years of product design experience on iOS and Android apps. You have a strong sense for interaction, motion, and usability in native environments and you are experienced with the platform-specific design systems and know when to flex them for a great experience
- Your portfolio shows impact. You demonstrate end-to-end product thinking from uncovering insights and defining problems to delivering results that improve user experience and business outcomes
- You communicate with influence. You can clearly present, discuss, and advocate for design work and align diverse stakeholders around user needs and your design reasoning
- You’re data-informed. You blend quantitative data and qualitative insights to guide your design decisions and measure impact
- You’re an AI enthusiast. You’re comfortable exploring and integrating generative AI tools in your workflow and you’re excited to shape how they transform UX work itself
- You thrive cross-functionally. You collaborate naturally with Product, Engineering, Data, Research and Marketing balancing empathy, clarity, and delivery
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to own and elevate our end-to-end native App experience on refurbed. Your work will make the entire journey from discovering our app to browsing, purchasing, and managing orders feel effortless, inspiring, and joyful
- You’ll play a key role in bringing our app into a new era of AI-assisted shopping, designing intuitive and human-centered experiences that help customers make smarter and more sustainable choices
- You will collaborate closely in your new squad with product managers, engineers, and data specialists to define the future of our mobile experience. Together, you will balance usability, conversion, and brand differentiation to create memorable and innovative experiences for sustainable shopping
- You own the end-to-end user experience of our native app (iOS and Android), with clear ownership of core app journeys and close collaboration across embedded mobile web touchpoints
- You shape the design vision and product direction of our app together with your Product and Engineering peers, bringing new shopping experiences to life
- You elevate our app into a new era of AI-assisted shopping, designing recommendations, conversational flows, guidance tools, and other intelligent experiences that leverage emerging technologies and device capabilities
- You drive and validate solutions through continuous discovery and experimentation, identifying opportunities, solving user problems, testing ideas, and iterating for measurable impact
- You translate user insights, business goals, and analytics into intuitive flows, elegant UIs, and engaging interactions, while contributing to a cohesive and scalable design system
- You partner closely with engineers to ensure design feasibility, accessibility, performance, and implementation quality across both platforms
- You explore new ways of working, using generative AI tools to accelerate the process of shaping digital product experiences while fostering strong collaboration within your team
Our take
Buying refurbished electronics can be a fantastic way to give a device a second life whilst saving a bit of cash, but many people are skeptical of doing so. Such items are often sold through illegitimate channels and there is no guarantee that the device will work for long, resulting in people avoiding refurbished goods.
Refurbed provides a refurbished electronics marketplace, which is challenging this. It allows users to browse and purchase refurbished devices that come with a minimum of 12 months' warranty.
The platform operates based on a monthly subscription fee, and whilst this will present a challenge when alternative marketplaces are free to use, the company has recognised that consumers are happy to pay for quality and warranty. Through its marketplace, the company aims to increase the prevalence of refurbished device purchases, helping to reduce waste and carbon footprints and helping consumers save money in the process. $40 million in 2025 funding is being invested into AI-driven efficiency and CX solutions.
