- BA/BS in Accounting preferred
- At least 2 plus years of relevant work experience in an accounting role. Tech startup experience helpful but not required
- Proficiency in Excel required; familiarity with SAGE, WorkDay, Bill.com, and Expensify preferred
- Strong understanding of US GAAP
- Excellent time management, attention to detail, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting tight deadlines

What the job involves
- Figure is seeking a driven and detail-focused Staff Accountant who is ready to make a powerful impact
- In this role, you’ll handle essential monthly accounting functions such as coding of cash and credit cards, invoicing for accounts receivable, and handling of prepaids as well as play a key part in building and refining processes as we scale at lightning speed
- We’re a team of trailblazers transforming the financial services industry, and we’re looking for someone who takes ownership and pride in their work and thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment
- Record journal entries, oversee AR and perform account reconciliations for a number of accounts including cash, credit cards, prepaids, ensuring data accuracy, identifying discrepancies, and proposing solutions when needed
- Support the month-end close process by preparing journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements, conduct analyses, validate data integrity, and perform reconciliations
- Develop and update accounting policies and procedures to ensure GAAP compliance and strengthen internal controls
- Assist with external audits by preparing necessary documentation and providing ongoing support
- Collaborate regularly with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement and resolve issues
- Drive process improvement and design of automation solutions to further streamline real-time financial data for decision making
- Contribute to various ad hoc projects as the company grows

Figure handles loans and mortgaging. They are disrupting manual compensation surveys and traditional industry software with their blockchain platform, Provenance, which works as a registry, ledger, and exchange.
The company has branched from offering student loans into many products such as mortgages, personal loans, blockchain-based private credit and private investment opportunities. In 2020, they started seeking a national bank charter to simplify their business and offer better security.
The company is focusing on building blockchain-backed solutions and now offers its customers the option to leverage their cryptocurrency assets to get loans or mortgages and is one of the only companies to do so. Figure is betting heavily on the success of the $1 trillion cryptocurrency market and blockchain industry, and laid off 20% of its staff in July 2023 in preparation for an IPO bid. This IPO is targeted specifically at Figure's lending division, which saw massive growth over 2022 and 2023.
