What the job involves
- As a Senior Customer Success Manager, you will be at the heart of our partnerships with universities, ensuring they see real value in Handshake
- You’ll work with key decision-makers, develop scalable engagement strategies, and help shape our approach in Germany

- Build and nurture strong relationships with university stakeholders at all levels, from career services teams to senior leadership
- Act as a trusted advisor, helping universities drive student engagement and employer connections through Handshake
- Proactively address challenges, share best practices, and introduce new ways to maximize value for our partners
- Own renewals and expansions, ensuring our partners continue to see Handshake as a must-have solution
- Act as the key link between our German partners and internal teams, sharing insights to shape product development, marketing strategies, and business decisions
- Use data-driven insights to guide universities on improving student and employer engagement
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Product, and Marketing teams to refine our approach in Germany
- Stay ahead of market trends and university needs to position Handshake as a long-term strategic partner
- Contribute to Handshake’s broader European strategy as we continue expanding across new markets
- Travel to university campuses across Germany to run strategic meetings, training sessions, and workshops
- Represent Handshake at industry events, sharing our vision and driving awareness in the market
Our take
The three founders of Handshake established their company in an attempt to eliminate inequality and make the student hiring landscape fairer. The Handshake platform acts as a LinkedIn for college students, pairing students from every walk of life with more than 650K employers, including the entire Fortune 500, which includes Google and Nike.
The graduate recruitment platform is open to any student with a valid @.edu email address, with more than 17M active users from thousands of colleges and universities. With a student-first philosophy, the company generates revenue from both universities and employers rather than students.
Valued at $3.5B, Handshake has gained traction in a competitive market, although it has strong competition from recruiting giants LinkedIn and Indeed. It stands out, however, by helping students build new relationships and skills, rather than simply making connections to people they already know.
