Role
Who you are
- Deep expertise in Node.js, npm, and TypeScript, with a focus on developing reliable backend systems
- Strong experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and familiarity with API lifecycle management
- Strong testing and debugging skills
- Proficient with Git, CI/CD tools, and agile development practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills, algorithm design, and complexity analysis
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related technical field
Desirable
- Experience with microservices and service-oriented architectures
- Knowledge of containers and orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience improving developer productivity through internal tooling or frameworks
- Familiarity with event-driven architecture and experience with event streaming platforms like Kafka
- Ability to create clarity and drive alignment across stakeholder groups

What the job involves
- Deeply understand how developers use Node.js and TypeScript at BitGo to create optimal solutions and abstractions for their use cases, driving and evolving recommended practices
- Design, build, and optimize scalable platform services and Node.js-based tooling to support BitGo’s high-performance custody, wallet, and financial services platforms
- Provide and integrate the libraries, frameworks, and workflows that enable developers to build software efficiently within the BitGo ecosystem
- Develop tools and workflows to improve engineering velocity, including deployment pipelines, testing frameworks, and service abstractions
- Continuously improve operational excellence through a culture of learning and proactive investments in reliability and resiliency
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain standards for API design, platform performance, and overall system architecture

The digital asset industry is maturing, with asset companies looking to shore up their positions by adding secure custody capabilities. This is good news for BitGo, an independent, regulated cryptocurrency custodian company providing security, custody, and liquidity solutions.
BitGo’s flagship multi-signature wallet solution helps its clients mitigate risk and optimize capital efficiency. The company has subsequently expanded to also cover a number of areas that are critical for any holder of major crypto assets - like portfolio and tax management. In this, BitGo was smart to focus exclusively on institutional clients: there’s huge appetite among larger players to expedite the mainstreaming of crypto, and they’ll need precisely BitGo’s tools to get there.
BitGo was in talks to be acquired by PayPal, and most recently Galaxy Digital, which speaks to a strong institutional confidence in the crypto wave. In spite of a rocky year for the digital assets (which now sees BitGo suing Galaxy Digital for pulling out of the acquisition deal), BitGo has manoeuvred itself into a central position to capitalize on what, now, seems a near-inevitable period of mass adoption. Exemplifying this, the BitGo Ventures wing of the company was launched in 2024 to partner with and invest in cutting edge blockchain and fintech startups.
