Role
Who you are
- 3+ years experience working in a Data Engineering/Data Platform environment
- Demonstrated ability to design and build automated, scalable, and cost-efficient Data Ingestion
- Experience maintaining orchestration pipelines with Airflow or similar tool
- Experience developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code solutions for deploying and managing data platform infrastructure with Terraform or CDK
- Experience setting up and maintaining Cloud Data Warehouses like Snowflake, Redshift, or Databricks
- Strong proficiency in leveraging AWS architecture best practices for diverse applications and projects (alternatively, comparable experience in one of the other major cloud providers like Azure or GCP)
- Experience in code management using GIT, conflict resolution, and code review processes, including guiding engineers through merge requests
- Demonstrated experience in setting up, configuring, and managing CI/CD pipelines
- Excellent SQL skills and at least one scripting language (Python, TypeScript, etc)
- Knowledge and understanding about programming paradigms and software architecture patterns (experience in at least one imperative, object oriented, or functional language like C, C++, Java, Kotlin, Scala is a plus)
- Strong sense of ownership around the infrastructure we build and maintain as a team
What the job involves
- Join our central Data Platform and Engineering team working across different departments in Personio to support the organisation to become Data led
- As a Data Platform Engineer, you feel comfortable in supporting and enhancing our growing Data Platform stack on top of AWS, Snowflake, dbt and Airflow
- Designing and implementing data ingestion pipelines to bring data from various sources into the data platform
- Help to build tooling to make the interaction with the Data Platform more seamless for our various stakeholder groups
- Develop and maintain IaaC and tools to deploy and manage the data platform infrastructure
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data is available and accessible to all relevant parties
- Analyse and monitor the performance and costs of data platforms and pipelines to identify optimisation opportunities and potential bottlenecks
- Document platform architecture, design, deployment, and maintenance procedures, including troubleshooting guides and best practices
- Work collaboratively with both more and less experienced team members in technical, communication and project management skills
