Who you are

- Convenience retail or Foodservice experience
- 2-5+ years of progressive sales experience in CPG; experience within convenience, foodservice, military, or other AFH channels strongly preferred
- Success managing regional or national accounts with measurable sales growth
- Experience working with distributor-managed models, including UNFI, Core-Mark, or McLane
- Understanding of route-to-market strategy, trade marketing, and category management principles
- Relationship-building and negotiation skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred
- Travel Requirement: 50%+
- While this role is remote, candidates should be located in Central or Western U.S. regions to align with travel expectations
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a Sales Account Executive, Away From Home (West) to help grow Magic Spoon’s footprint across convenience, foodservice, and other AFH channels in the Western U.S. You’ll manage regional key accounts and distributor relationships, drive sales growth, and bring our better-for-you snacks to new customers everywhere people snack and eat on the go
- You’ll thrive in this role if you’re a self-starter with strong business acumen and channel experience—someone who thrives in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments and loves building brands from the ground up
- Ideally you combine strategic thinking with scrappy execution, data-driven decision-making, and the hustle it takes to make Magic Spoon a staple wherever cereal lovers roam
- Manage regional key accounts across convenience, foodservice, and other AFH channels, including direct and distributor-managed customers
- Execute account-level business plans to achieve volume, distribution, and profitability goals
- Nurture relationships with key decision-makers, brokers, and distributor partners to drive growth and visibility for Magic Spoon’s portfolio
- Utilize data and insights to drive strategic recommendations around assortment, merchandising, and performance optimization
- Assist with forecasting, trade programs, customer P&L
- Identify new distribution opportunities within the West Coast region to expand Magic Spoon’s reach and brand presence
- Collaborate with cross functional teams (Marketing, Supply, Ops, Finance) to ensure internal alignment
- Manage regional distributor networks, ensuring optimal inventory levels, forecasting accuracy, and trade spend efficiency
- Track performance metrics, delivering regular updates on key account results, opportunities, and challenges
- Represent Magic Spoon at regional trade shows, distributor events, and customer meetings to promote brand visibility and engagement
Our take
Magic Spoon offers protein-based alternatives to popular cereal brands and has found early traction with its healthier cereals. It provides cereal flavors like Fruity, Cocoa, and Peanut Butter, but with better ingredients, zero added sugar, high protein, and low carbs, as well as gluten-free and keto-friendly options.
The cereal industry has been dominated by the same brand names since the 60s. Magic Spoon's different approach has chimed with Millennials, Gen-Z, and those looking for guilt-free comfort food. Strategic tie-ins with TikTok influencers and heavy spending on Facebook advertising allowed the new cereal brand to earn substantial profits.
With solid funding, Magic Spoon has expanded into brick-and-mortar stores, securing nearly 7,000 distribution deals by mid-2023. Competing in the massive breakfast cereal market alongside new challenges like OffLimits and Crispy Fantasy, as well as industry giants, Magic Spoon has the potential to become a household name if it can sustain its momentum.
