Role
Who you are
- Prior experience working with B2C platforms
- Solid .NET experience and working with Python is also desirable
- Strong software development knowledge, with a focus on cloud technologies
- Proven experience integrating third-party services and platforms
- End-to-end SDLC experience with solid architectural design knowledge
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and designing and integrating APIs, including webhooks and OAuth
- A track record of leading and delivering digital or commerce initiatives involving multiple systems and partners
- You communicate clearly and confidently with both technical and non-technical audiences
- You take ownership, speak up when something isn’t right, and work collaboratively across teams
- You enjoy solving complex problems and improving how systems work together
- You are proactive, open to change, and focused on quality and continuous improvement
- You are curious about new technologies and interested in AI and emerging capabilities

What the job involves
- The Technical Lead will play a pivotal role in driving the technical direction for services and integrations within the customer domain, ensuring third-party platforms and internal systems work seamlessly together to support the customer journey
- You will translate business needs into robust technical solutions, champion engineering standards, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement across integrations, front-end initiatives, and platform performance
- You will work hands-on alongside engineers, architects, and product teams to provide technical leadership, manage the impact of change, and ensure our solutions are secure, resilient, and aligned to our overall technology strategy
- Act as the technical authority for third-party services and integrations within the customer domain
- Define, document, and oversee integrations between third-party platforms and internal services
- Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions aligned to architecture and platform strategy
- Provide technical leadership across front-end initiatives and integration work
- Ensure integrations meet engineering standards for security, resilience, testability, and performance
- Assess and manage the impact of third-party changes, identifying and mitigating technical risks early
- Partner with third-party vendors to ensure services are observable and well-supported
- Promote best practices, support cross-team alignment, and contribute to the technical community
- Work closely with Product Owners and Business Analysts to support business roadmap shaping, feasibility and analysis

Initially set up as a mail order company in 1991, Boden has since become a major UK fashion brand specialising in quality clothing designed to stand the test of time. It has 1.8 million active customers worldwide and has attracted high-profile buyers, including Kate Middleton, Michelle Obama, and Holly Willoughby.
Previously relying on catalogue sales, they were unable to achieve the real-time responsiveness vital in today’s retail industry. As a result, in the past few years, Boden has heavily invested in modernising its IT systems and created a new way to capture data online. Having adapted to changing consumer behaviours, now 95% of its sales occur online, enabling it to compete with the growing number of e-commerce competitors like ME + EM and Mint Velvet.
This new digital approach has not been Boden's only success in recent years. Traditionally, many UK retailers have failed to gain a foothold in the US. However, the company’s quintessential British branding has successfully set it apart, leading to Boden’s US sales already overtaking those in the UK, and the business continues to grow faster there.
Moving forward, Boden is overcoming a 2023 dip in sales triggered by an unneeded menswear revamp that lost sight of its core customer base. It is now reverting back to its classic formula and is planning on further expansion in the US, determined to double sales in the next few years.
