Role
Who you are
- Experience in a startup where a breadth of technical knowledge and expertise across all three of our OS platforms (macOS, Windows, Ubuntu) is required
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, computer engineering, network administration or similar
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in information technology in a support engineering or computer help desk role
- May need to be available early mornings to be able to support and communicate with our India-based employees (9 ½ hours ahead of EDT)
- Admin level knowledge of Google Workspace
- Knowledge of SQL is a plus
- Knowledge of core technologies, including:
- Google Workplace: 1 (one) year of administration experience
- Experience with managing and maintaining Operating System, third-party applications, and security Best Practices for our three endpoint platforms: Windows, macOS, and Ubuntu
- Prior experience managing and maintaining the following software platforms:
- Slack
- TeamViewer
- Splashtop
- Bitdefender AV
- 1Password Business
- MS Office 365
- Jira, Confluence, and Service Desk
What the job involves
- The IT Support Engineer will support our Director of IT in understanding, maintaining, monitoring and implementing IT systems primarily for employees in North America
- They would be responsible for providing technical support and ensuring the company’s technological functions run smoothly, as well as being responsible for assigned IT projects
- New-employee technology onboarding – Ordering, configuring, delivering, and training users on desktop systems, which include macOS, Windows, and Ubuntu platforms
- Employee off boarding – Managing the appropriate account de-activations or deletes, establishing email forwarding as necessary, closing all SaaS accounts, etc
- Be responsible for configuring desktop endpoint hardware from Apple (Lease program), Lenovo, and Dell and configuring and supporting multiple Operating Systems including macOS, Windows, and Ubuntu
- Respond to IT trouble tickets submitted through Jira Service Desk, supporting users on all three platforms
- Monitor and maintain our Ubiquiti wireless network in our Waltham, MA office
- Manage and maintain our Verkada platform, which is our video surveillance platform
- Implement a wireless display and video conferencing solution for our two conference rooms in Waltham
- Learn and become expert in using our own software platforms, including OSquery and OSquery Protect
- Manage and maintain the full suite of IT tools that are deployed including:
- Bitdefender Antivirus
- Kandji MDM solution for macOS endpoints
- SureMDM and Automox solutions for Windows and Linux endpoints
- Splashtop SOS Unlimited remote access solution
- 1Password corporate password manager software
- Manage and maintain key corporate software and SaaS platforms including but not limited to:
- Microsoft Office 365
- VPN access to server farm
- Cloudflare
- Atlassian Jira, Confluence, and Service Desk
- Slack Business+ account
- Work with the Director of IT on our Endpoint Hardening project, which includes managing OS and third-party automated updates, auditing and remediating endpoint hygiene; auditing and remediating endpoint compliance with standards such as CIS, and managing and remediating OS and third-party software vulnerabilities
