Data Lead, EdAid

• Strong analytical background, with a proven application of insights to address business questions/ needs
• A confident, innovative, self-starter who is driven to explore data and systems to deliver analytical solutions, within the context of the business
• Experience working productively alongside technical/development teams
• Ability to interpret non-technical stakeholder briefs and prescribe the most appropriate analytical approach to answer the business requirements
• Highly organised individual with the ability to work to tight deadlines and to deliver analytics to a high standard, within a busy team environment
• Highly proficient in SQL with over 5 years experience in efficiently writing and editing queries
• Practical experience of working on multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment, effectively managing conflicting priorities
• Demonstrable experience in data mining large complex databases, to provide insights to both internal and external clients
• Clear ability to identify and robustly analyse patterns in data to measure the success of key business initiatives
• Experience in using at least one commercial BI platform e.g. PowerBI, Tableau
• Proficient user of Google Sheets
• Excellent attention to detail

Desirable

• Lead EdAid’s data strategy, building a best-in-class function
• Refine and develop the data architecture strategy
• Refine and maintain EdAid’s data dictionary, ensuring all stakeholders are speaking the same language
• Work closely with the Development and QA Teams to ensure any infrastructure changes are updated across reporting
• Improve EdAid’s data function, working collaboratively with team members to understand pain points
• Regularly meet with stakeholders across the business to assess data and insight needs
• Provide commercial, actionable insights across the company for internal and external stakeholders
• Own cross-functional analytical projects designed to meet business queries and needs, varying in length, complexity and output
• Advise on the implementation of new business initiatives and/or processes and ongoing monitoring of performance using strong, data-driven evidence
• Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets, questioning the why and interrogating the bigger picture in collaboration with other teams, using this information to drive EdAid’s growth
• Convey complex analyses in a concise and clear manner to a non-analytical audience using strong communication and presentation skills, helping to drive the function forward
• Build effective business relationships and present clear recommendations
• Own EdAid’s data and visualisation tools, ensuring they are fit for purpose
• Manage the availability and performance of the databases that underpin all of the systems
• Ensure appropriate hardware resources are allocated to the databases, to guarantee high resilience and optimum performance
• Plan and manage improvements, optimisation and maintenance of databases to include new releases and upgrades as well as routine maintenance
• Provide support to colleagues and end users in order to resolve data issues at all levels
• Handle all Production Incident monitoring, investigation and resolution
