Role
Who you are
- Garner is headquartered in NYC, but this position is available for individuals who are comfortable with remote work and occasional travel to HQ
- Deep health plan design and benefits knowledge, including experience advising large and Enterprise employer clients on benefits strategy and cost performance
- 7+ years of experience in a commercially-oriented account management or sales role in the employee benefits space
- A deep commercial focus with the desire to be measured and compensated via the retention and growth of your book of business
- Proven results of achieving retention and upsell targets year over year
- A self-starter with the strong desire to work in an ambiguous, rapidly evolving, and fast-paced startup environment with notable upside
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Problem solver in ambiguous situations
- Strong communicator who can effectively articulate a vision
- The ability to travel up to 25% of the time
- A desire to be a part of a high-performing, mission-driven team that operates with intense urgency, a strong sense of individual accountability, and a commitment to authentic feedback
What the job involves
- We are seeking an exceptional Strategic Accounts Executive to join our Accounts Management Team
- This role will report to the SVP, Strategic Accounts
- The Strategic Accounts Executive will be responsible for retaining and upselling some of Garner’s largest employer clients
- You will collaborate with account managers to ensure Garner’s most important clients have an excellent experience and achieve the expected results
- As a Strategic Accounts Executive you will become our client’s trusted strategic partner on plan design, bending cost trends and driving plan performance
- Through your efforts, you will be responsible for driving improved Net Revenue Retention and other KPIs for your book of business
- You'll own the process to retain and upsell some of Garner’s largest employer clients
- Collaborate with account managers to ensure Garner’s important clients have an excellent experience
- Become our client’s trusted strategic partner on plan design, bending cost trends and driving plan performance
- Work with clients to resolve strategic problems and ensure Garner is delivering value to the employer’s health plan and members
- Establish and manage some of the most important strategic broker and client relationships
- Monitor and anticipate the strategic needs of your book of business
- Monitor overall client health and execute strategic plans to proactively address key account risks
- Collaborate with product, data, and technology teams to deliver customized reports and presentations demonstrating the value and ROI of Garner
- Drive improved net revenue retention and other KPIs for your book of business

An overworked US healthcare system has resulted in long waits and expensive prices, meaning that patients can't access the care that they need. Garner Health creates digital services that allow patients to find a medical expert that fits their specific needs, whatever their insurance circumstances are.
The startup provides an app that analyses local health-insurance claims history through AI. This data is used to recommend local medical professionals that will work with a patient's circumstances whilst providing direct communication channels for liaising. This helps patients to identify the highest-quality doctors and helps doctors improve how they practice medicine.
Despite other companies providing similar bespoke healthcare services, Garner Health shows a cutting edge by partnering with patient employers. This provides the financial incentive that employers must cover all or a portion of medical expenses, making healthcare financially accessible for all involved. The company has good funding at its back, and back in 2022 partnered with Marathon Health towards reducing the inefficiencies of specialty referrals.
