Role
Who you are
- 12+ years of experience as a professional software engineer building, scaling and extending SaaS products
- 3+ years managing technical architecture & design and leading initiatives from inception to delivery
- Previous startup experience strongly preferred
- You have hands-on experience in several general purpose languages
- Extensive experience designing, building, and integrating with RESTful APIs
- Experience with building and scaling relational and NoSQL database platforms (such as MySQL, Postgres, Cassandra, DynamoDB, MongoDB, Redis, Elasticache)
- Experience with cloud computing platforms like Amazon AWS or Google Cloud Platform
- Experience building high volume, high performance, and highly available products
- Experience leading Agile teams with a focus on incremental delivery and improvement
- Strong willingness and desire to both learn and mentor
What the job involves
- Narvar is growing! We are hiring a strong and motivated Engineering Manager who will partner with our product team to develop experiences for our clients and their end consumers
- We are looking for people who will play a meaningful role in amplifying the value of our platform by assuring the seamless development and deployment of our product
- You will lead complex technical projects, grow and mentor a high-performing team, and be an integral part of the hiring process
- Design and build highly scalable, extensible, distributed systems through incremental delivery, aligned to a longer-term vision
- Set a high technical bar, driving continuous improvement of software design, coding and quality practices
- Lead the planning of new initiatives including translating requirements into work streams, and assessing and communicating delivery milestones
- Plan day-to-day activities for the team, working with stakeholders and team members, to balance feature delivery and operational health
- Inform the technical roadmap to address technical debt and improve scalability/extensibility
- Improve operational observability and effectiveness of system monitoring, reporting and alarming
- Guide the team’s continuous improvement of the planning and execution processes

The process that retailers go through to deliver products to customers is becoming increasingly complicated due to convoluted shipping networks and a global customer base. This means customer experience suffers as retailers must offer an overwhelming range of delivery options. Narvar aims to improve this situation with an integrated delivery and returns platform for retailers, providing analytics on client data to the retailer and optimizes shipping channels for customers.
Narvar is a market leader in this sector, active in almost every country and territory worldwide and having made more than 2B shipments since its founding in 2012. Its post-purchase customer experience platform is used by over 1,500 companies including household name retailers such as Sephora, GAP and Levis, among many others.
Narvar has secured many strategic partnerships such as linking up with Rise.ai, a leading gift card and store credit platform. This allows stores to simplify returns by enabling merchants to issue Rise's store credit as part of the returns process. While Narvar is currently focused on retailers providing shipping solutions for their customers, the company plans to expand to offer a B2B product in the near future.
