Role
Who you are
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Reliability Engineering or related field with 5+ years of industry experience
- Hands-on experience designing and testing liquid or gas handling systems and their subcomponents such as pumps, fans, ducts, valves, filters, sensors, and seals
- Familiar with developing accelerated lifetime tests to assess component reliability across a range of operating conditions
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills within a group of peers and the broader organization, including remote team members
- Experience in fluid systems for reactive, corrosive, or hazardous chemicals is a plus
- Experience with statistical data analysis software such as Minitab, JMP, Python, or Tableau is a plus

- Form Energy is seeking a Senior Reliability Engineer, Liquid and Gas Systems to improve the reliability and lifetime of our iron-air enclosures and deployed systems
- As part of our Reliability team, you will work closely with the Systems and Project Engineering teams to develop test plans, analyze data, perform failure analysis, and define critical design requirements for fluid process systems
- This role will require hands-on work in the lab and cross functional collaboration to evaluate, analyze, and propose design-for-reliability solutions to new and poorly understood problems and gain confidence in our product lifetime
- Serve as subject matter expert on design for reliability best practices for critical design challenges relating to liquid and gas process systems (e.g. seal reliability, fan and pump wearout) and review vendor reliability data for off the shelf components
- Closely partner with design owners to de-risk and down-select next-iteration enclosure and system design concepts and translate high level product requirements into functional reliability and lifetime requirements for components and subsystems
- Design, execute, and analyze experiments internally and at external labs to evaluate failure mechanisms and their acceleration factors

Revolutionizing battery storage is at the core of Form Energy’s approach to making renewable energy universal. Form Energy’s battery is based around Iron-air technology that currently has energy storage capacities and operational costs comparable to legacy power plants. In addition to improvements in cost and consistent electricity access, Form Energy’s batteries are scalable, portable, and safe - offering a unique approach to revolutionizing renewable energy storage towards a greener future.
Although renewable energy storage technology remains an emerging industry, a variety of competitors are also driving developments of battery storage technology. However, Form Energy continues to be a key leader in this space, bagging significant investment that will enable it to build its first manufacturing plant and begin selling to customers. Form Energy's progress is highlighted by a deal with Xcel Energy to deploy iron-air battery systems at two of its retiring coal plant sites and with Puget Sound Energy in 2024, to help the company deploy multi-day energy storage systems.
