Who you are
- 7+ years of experience in product management across web, mobile and desktop platforms, particularly in the B2C context (B2B is a plus)
- Experience in managing small team (at least 2 people) directly and about 25 people indirectly
- Strategic leader with an analytical and data-driven mindset, with a track record for launching products and features with commercial impact
- Strong empathy for the customer, user-centric mindset, and an unwillingness to lower standards
- Good sense of business acumen and ability to work closely with marketing, sales and finance
- A strong innate sense for good UX, with a love for design
- Solid project management skills with successful track record of delivering on time and given resource constraints
- The right mentality to remove the obstacles and enable the team to move forward. Ability to be hands-on and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Technical acumen, able to contribute to technical decisions
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead the evolution of Proton Payments. The Payments team covers everything from the UI the moment the user decides to purchase to the back-end services integrating with our payment service providers for completing transactions.
- As Product at Proton, you sit at the intersection of Engineering, Growth, Data and Design, and your responsibility will be to grow the portfolio of product capabilities to serve our customers and our business for long term sustainable growth
- Define and execute a strategic vision for the product across all platforms (Mobile, Desktop, Web and back-end)
- Define what success looks like in terms of team goals and metrics that align with the larger Proton mission
- Establish strong working relationships with and influence business units across the entire Proton ecosystem with a strong direction and convincing product insights
- Drive product innovation by identifying internal and external customer problems and devising novel solutions with a cross functional team. Ensure that we are building, shipping and supporting the right products
- Lead, inspire and coach the product organization for the Payments domains (2 Product Managers). Be the product leader people look up to
- Facilitate hand-in-hand collaboration between product, engineering, growth and marketing to align on the vision and the execution
- Challenge yourself and your team to push the boundary of the status quo (product, design, technology) to realise those novel solutions
- Set the pace for the teams, help them to overcome blockers and execute faster
- Lead the teams through execution. See through the fog of war and know where to go and what needs to be done quickly and decisively. Troubleshoot and solve problems involving multiple teams inside and outside of product, as well as across different business units

Proton is a Geneva-based startup founded by former CERN worker and internet privacy advocate Andy Yen. It provides internet users with encrypted webmail, calendar, drive, and VPN services.
Proton maintains its pro-privacy ethos using a Swiss VPN, protected by strict Swiss privacy laws. In essence, it has established a connection between the personal and the political, smartly utilising the country’s national laws to benefit people and organisations globally. Proton also funds charities and movements such as the World Wide Web Foundation and Netblocks, further cementing it as an influential NGO.
Perhaps Proton’s most important quality is its determination to maintain independence from advertisers and companies. Originally founded on donations, Proton has funded itself via grants rather than venture capital so that all of its customer's data is never at risk of being mined. One effect of this is that to keep up with the increasing competition in the data privacy sector, Proton has expanded its services to allow more cross-selling and simultaneously has more products to offer, such as drive and calendar privacy.
