Role
Who you are
- Demonstrable experience writing and editing SEO content, ideally at volume
- Excellent written English, with strong editing, proofreading and fact-checking skills
- Solid working knowledge of on-page SEO principles (keyword integration, headers, internal linking)
- Comfortable producing reactive, news-led content quickly and to tight deadlines
- Able to work independently and manage own workload against a fixed monthly capacity
Desirable
- Experience writing about trading, investing or financial markets
- Experience working in financial services or another regulated industry
- Familiarity with headless CMS platforms (e.g. StoryBlok) and SEO tools such as Ahrefs and Google Search Console
What the job involves
- We're looking for a freelance SEO copywriter and content editor to help grow organic visibility for ig.com/uk and ig.com/ie
- You'll split your time evenly between writing and editing – shaping reactive, news-led content around live market events and refining evergreen guides – with a strong focus on turning AI-generated first drafts into accurate, polished, publish-ready copy
- This role sits within the SEO team in the Marketing division, reporting directly into the SEO Manager
- The team covers organic search strategy, technical SEO, content, UX/CRO and AI search visibility across the UK and Ireland markets. This is a freelance, individual-contributor role with no direct reports
- Write original, SEO-optimised reactive content that responds quickly to market news and trending search demand across trading, investing and financial markets topics
- Write and refresh evergreen SEO content, ensuring it stays accurate, competitive and aligned to target keywords over time
- Fact-check market commentary, financial data and product claims to protect the accuracy and credibility of published content
- Apply on-page SEO best practice to headlines, structure, metadata and internal linking
- Maintain a consistent brand voice and editorial standard across both writing and editing output
- Work with the SEO Manager to prioritise reactive topics against live news and market events, and turn content around within tight deadlines
- Freelance, part time – approximately 8 days per month

Our take
Founded in 1974 by Stuart Wheeler as a UK-based spread betting company for gold, IG Group, abbreviated from Investors Gold Index, was initially set up to allow people to speculate and trade on the price change of gold without owning physical gold. And in the year 2000, it was listed on the London Stock Exchange and its gradual evolution into the world of fintech began.
By 2011, the company had played a part in numerous international buyouts before narrowing its focus down to financial wagers. During the latter half of that decade, IG shut down its binary options trading platform and focused instead on building an investment portfolio with partner BlackRock Investments, all whilst maintaining its Forex and CFD trading processes. Since then, it has become a fast-paced market leader in the investment space.
In recent years, IG Group has developed major platforms for various trading actions and has grown profit and revenue significantly. Alongside this it has acquired a number of companies, including tastytrade and Freetrade, and launched its own crypto product, making it the first UK-listed company to launch crypto trading to retail investors. This further proves how much of a staple IG Group is in the world of financial trading.
