Our take

Globally we produce over 10 billion tons of concrete each year, it is responsible for up to 10% of global CO2 emissions. Around 5% of all concrete produced goes to waste, this waste in the UK alone costs around £400 million.

Cloud Cycle has developed an on-truck device and sensor array which feeds their cloud platform to reduce the time from batching to delivery to ensure concrete meets specification and prevents waste. Even when surplus does still occur, their marketplace for the local on-sale of surplus concrete will find a buyer.

Cloud Cycle have formed a key partnership by being selected to work on the HS2 construction project. If the technology is successful in reducing the amount of concrete by tonnes, this could be a springboard for their growth.
