Who you are
- Data industry experience and expertise: Either hands-on work with or a deep knowledge of data engineering with a focus on data lakes, open table formats (e.g. Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg), data warehouses, data catalogs and related technologies (e.g. SQL, dbt, python, Spark)
- Technical aptitude and a desire to learn more: Knowledge of modern data infrastructure and tools, particularly in relation to data lakes and their role in analytics and storage. Has a keen interest in all things data integration and cloud destinations and a willingness to work on new product areas beyond data lakes as they arise
- Experience working with multiple different teams: Proven experience partnering and coaching across Product, Sales, Marketing, and Enablement teams to deliver impactful results
- Strong in-person, virtual, and written communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of adapting messaging for different technical personas and mediums, particularly those working with data lakes and predictive analytics
- Highly-organized with an excellent project management track record: Strong project management skills to juggle multiple initiatives and projects, maintain proactive communication with stakeholders, and meet deadlines
- An understanding of our target customers: The ability to gain a deep understanding of the needs and challenges of data engineers, data scientists, data architects, and technical stakeholders
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Senior Technical Product Marketing Manager to join our Product + Portfolio Marketing team and lead strategic initiatives with a focus on data lakes and AI as a core product area, with an opportunity to expand.
- This role will ensure our technical marketing efforts align with customer needs, market trends, and the evolving data and analytics industry.
- As part of the Product Marketing team, you will help drive product growth and marketing success through go-to-market (GTM) launches, compelling technical content, and demand generation support.
- You’ll work closely with Product, Sales, Enablement, Demand Generation, Partner Marketing, Design and more teams to showcase Fivetran’s capabilities around data lakes and engage personas such as data engineering and analytics leaders, data architects, CDOs, CIOs, and other relevant stakeholders
- Content Development & Messaging: Create technical collateral specific to data lakes technology and AI use cases including architecture diagrams, demos, white papers, blogs, decks and customer-facing content that translates complex technical concepts into clear messaging. Develop and edit materials created specifically for product launches, both internally and customer-facing, ensuring accuracy for our technical audience with an interest in data lake adoption and AI applications
- Customer & Market Insights: Conduct research on market trends, customer needs, and competitors in our industry to inform product positioning and messaging for Fivetran use cases and product areas, including but not limited to data lakes and AI. Partner with Product to deeply understand product features, technical capabilities, and customer requirements and use cases, to help create content like how-to guides, demo videos, case studies, email campaigns, and pitch decks
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with GTM Product Marketers, Demand Generation, Regional Marketing, and Sales teams to create campaigns, webinars, and events that highlight data lakes as a critical component of modern data infrastructure. Work with Partner Marketing to showcase Fivetran’s integrations with data lake solutions and strategic partners through joint initiatives like webinars and technical hands-on labs
- Enable Field Teams: Collaborate with Sales Engineers (SEs) and Solution Architects (SAs) to deliver technical enablement, training, and content that supports their efforts in positioning Fivetran within data lake use cases with prospects and customers. Create training materials and resources to enable the field team on product features and architectures
- Technical Expertise: Stay up to date with trends in the data industry with a focus on data integration and on technical advancements in the areas of data lake architectures, AI, hybrid deployments, security, and governance. Support analyst relations by providing detailed technical insights and validating product development items with a focus on data lakes as a key element of the modern data stack
- Thought Leadership: Represent Fivetran as a product subject matter expert with extensive knowledge of data integration, through in-person events, presentations, and hands-on labs, showcasing our leadership in this area

After a few slower years since graduating from Y Combinator in 2013, Fivetran has skyrocketed, consistently raising large sums of funding, including an Andreessen Horowitz-backed $565m Series D round in 2021.
Customers are mostly data analysts at companies with inefficient database schema, who suffer from a high risk of project failures. Fivetran offers rapid integration of complex data services into cloud warehouses, tagging onto the trend towards cloud-based data systems.
By developing and continuously improving cloud applications that adapt to changing APIs and data schemas, Fivetran is attracting customers who seek long-term data viability. Fivetran also benefits from being easy to set up and integrate into a client's existing software.
After acquiring HVR, a data integration competitor, and Teleport Data, Fivetran continues to add functionality and customers via acquisition. A round of funding in 2023 paved the way for expansion into European and Asian markets.
