Role
Who you are
- Command of Python and its web development frameworks, for example: Flask, Django, Bottle
- Experience working with relational databases (preferably MySQL) and ORM frameworks (SQLAlchemy and Alembic)
- A strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals: version control (git), OOP, type systems, unit and integration testing
- Experience with containerisation (preferably Docker)
- Any public cloud experience (preferably AWS)
- You are happy to work in an operational setting, able to switch contexts effectively, and react quickly to arising issues
- You have the ability to learn effectively and autonomously; find, evaluate and use potential tools and solutions; contribute to the fast-paced business environment; and share knowledge and best practices with your team
Desirable
- Experience integrating with 3rd party services, such as delivery couriers
- Experience with Javascript
- A solid understanding of modern web system architecture
- A background in operational software, e.g. logistics, warehouse management systems, manufacturing, or supply chain systems
- Innovative and entrepreneurial nature
- You’re resourceful and you consistently seek out ways to overcome challenges and obstacles
What the job involves
- Work collaboratively with the other members of the tech team to build high-impact solutions
- Write software that integrates both ways with physical machines
- Champion best practices to deliver well-tested, robust software that always delivers
- Contribute to the ongoing development of our systems’ architecture
- Work closely with product, design and business owners to solve problems, test hypotheses, and develop new features for our customers
- Work across our whole tech stack, including backend and infrastructure
- Occasionally provide out-of-hours support

Back in 2018, Skin + Me's founders identified a huge problem in the world of skincare: people don’t just struggle with their skin – they struggle with how they’re supposed to deal with it. With no truly effective solutions available, the company set out to build a pioneering online dermatology service that provides personalised skincare.
Skin + Me takes customers through a simple online medical consultation and work with dermatologists to prescribe a treatment, personalised to the individual. Part of the company's unique selling point is that its made-to-order formulation arrives through a subscription box each month and comes in a ‘Daily Doser’ – a specially designed bottle that dispenses the exact amount of the product needed for daily application.
Skin + Me is supported by a team of dermatologists, pharmacists and direct-to-consumer experts, which allows it to deliver across the business - from skin science to building the technology platform behind it. The company's growth plans include continual development of its services while ensuring it sticks to its ethos: providing desired, effective, and personalised skincare.
