Who you are
- Extensive experience working in a law firm or in-house legal department, with a combination of relevant commercial experience in healthcare or technology, transactions, commercial contracting, and HIPAA/compliance
- Law degree from an accredited law school
- Bar membership in at least one jurisdiction
- Broad understanding of and appreciation for the technical and functional components of the legal function, including: contracts and commercial law; labor and employment; intellectual property; compliance, strategic partnerships; and due diligence/integration related to acquisitions
- Legal generalist, with an excellent sense of operations as well as commercial activities and an appreciation for the interplay between the two
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to write and speak clearly and effectively such that the attorney is persuasive, concise and confident in their communications
- Strong problem solving, relationship building and customer service skills
- Preferred work experience in tech, pharmaceutical industries or other relevant area
- Legal and regulatory experience in tech and/or pharmaceutical industries would be ideal
What the job involves
- Reporting to the VP, General Counsel, this experienced attorney will draft and negotiate agreements with Komodo Health’s clients, vendors, and subcontractors, work closely to advise product and data teams on complex issues concerning license rights, use cases, and regulatory matters, and provide general, cross-functional support to the broader Komodo Health organization
- Contract drafting and review– utilized their strong drafting skills and familiarity with the terms and conditions of SaaS and DPaaS/IaaS agreements, this person will have reviewed and commented upon contracts prepared by other parties in a manner that balances business requirements with practical legal analysis
- Problem Solving – this person will have helped the business to achieve its objectives by successfully resolving complex problems, including quickly identifying and analyzing key business and legal issues and providing practical advice to appropriate levels of management on options to achieve business objectives
- Client Service – will have delivered excellent client service through their personal and professional maturity to develop and maintain strong relationships with key business clients

Komodo Health has built a healthcare map, an artificial intelligence and data analytics tool that tracks the healthcare encounters of well over 300 million patients. The service helps providers, pharmaceutical companies, and scientists identify opportunities for intervention and care improvements. It also helps them to analyze how products are performing in the market, identify at-risk patient groups, study the effectiveness of treatments, and detect patterns in drug and patient behavior.
Komodo Health’s comprehensive platform helps customers to better understand health and it is challenging the fragmentation of healthcare that contributes to inconsistent, unsatisfying results for both patients and providers. It has used its considerable amount of funding to focus on accelerating growth through further innovation and development of its enterprise technology platform, application suite and core data assets.
Komodo Health made cuts to its core team at the end 2022 as part of a restructuring following a large equity funding round. This is very likely to be part of a push for profitability as it gears up for an IPO. With its business strategy realigned, it is resuming hiring in all areas to continue to develop its product and grow its market share.
