Who you are
- Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or relevant technical field
- 3+ Working experience into this field
- Extensive experience in software engineering with modern C++ (11/14/17)
- Proven experience with commercially exploited software and its development cycle
- Good knowledge of Linux and/or Windows environments
- Familiar with exposing public API and open sourcing code
- Willingness to work in a growing startup environment
Desirable
- Experience with developing real-time processing pipelines on embedded platforms
- Experience in high performance computing: SIMD, multi-threading, profiling, monitoring, etc
- Familiarity with Agile software development principles and practices
- Good knowledge and interest in Python and native code bindings
- Experience and interests in one or more of the following industries: industrial automation, internet of things, robotics, augmented or virtual reality or automotive
What the job involves
- Collaborate with technical and business colleagues to clarify requirements, advise on design choices and technical constraints, iterate on candidate solutions, and improve implementations
- Design, write specifications, implement, optimize, and maintain Prophesee’s software frameworks, tools, and APIs
- Contribute to the success of customer deliveries and to the consistent improvement of the code-base quality and reliability
Our take
Events based computer vision is a potentially game-changing form of data processing, in which substantially less data is created and stored, and systems relying on this data can react with greater precision and speed. Neuromorphic (event-based) imaging company Prophesee has developed a number of event-based chips - some of which are now sufficiently small to fit into consumer electronics.
This is significant, because there are substantial and important cross-sector applications for this kind of tech that could shave down costs, risks, and operational delays - in machine vision for industrial machines, for example. But this breakthrough is making waves further afield, from camera distributors like ImagoSony, to Metrology system makers. This means that you may not see much of Prophesee tech now, but with remarkable innovation taking place on the part of their partners, you will soon.
Additionally, there aren’t many companies making event cameras to date, and even fewer have made their technology commercially available. Prophesee do both, meaning they are likely to remain one of the pack leaders as this technology sees broader uptake. Most recently the company has formed a multi-year partnership with smartphone producer Qualcomm to improve the quality and energy efficiency of phone cameras, representing a major step forward for Prophesee and its technology.
