Who you are
- You are highly analytical and strategic, and can seamlessly navigate between complex details and the big picture
- 3+ years of professional experience, ideally 1-2 years in investment banking/financial services and 1-2 years in strategic finance
- Extremely strong analytical, financial modeling, and presentation skills
- Ability to distill complex issues into structured frameworks and action plans
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is comfortable shifting priorities based on new insights and business needs
- Thinks critically about problems and priorities, and isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo
- Excitement about digging deep into data for new insights
- Is a self-starter and has a desire to learn and grow
- Effectively collaborates with other teams across the organization
- Detail-oriented, and an excellent verbal and written communicator
- Basic SQL skills
What the job involves
- Veho’s Strategic Finance team will play a critical role in helping shape our short- and long-term business strategy and execution
- You will drive initiatives including owning Veho’s operating financial model and planning process, designing analytical and financial frameworks to optimize decision-making and support Veho’s rapid growth and expansion, and providing our management team, Board, and employees with insights about our performance
- You will support and become an expert in our operations and unit economics and support a wide range of teams
- Financial planning - Maintain Veho’s operating model in close coordination with business area leaders
- Help lead annual and quarterly financial planning and target setting processes
- Strategic analyses - Understand and analyze the levers that drive the company’s financial trajectory, with outsized focus on cost drivers and operational efficiency metrics
- Evaluate the financial impact of strategic decisions across the company and turn those insights into actionable results
- Assist with special projects and other ad-hoc analysis as needed
- Conduct post investment lookbacks to identify improvement opportunities for both capital investment and product development decisions
- Contribute to prioritization of team goals and projects
Our take
Over 2M online merchant ship over 165B packages to doorsteps across the United States every year. Every one of those deliveries represents a potential difference between happy customers willing to purchase again and refer friends, and a WISMO ("where is my order?!") catastrophe.
Veho is seeking to turn those deliveries from a risk into an opportunity for online brands. The next-day delivery platform leverages a gig economy workforce and its modern communication platform to create a greatly improved last-mile logistics experience for brands and their customers.
Now that the company has been able to build out an impressive technology platform - think optimized routes and driver-customer communication channels - it is now seeking major geographic expansion.
The company is facing competition from both traditional delivery companies like FedEx as well as newer venture-backed attempts to disrupt the space like Deliverr. However, its already impressive economies of scale and customer experience means it is well positioned to dominate the market in the coming years.
