Role
Who you are
- Experience in a senior business analyst role or a comparable position such as Consultant, Solution/Service Designer or Product Owner
- Experience delivering projects across the full lifecycle, using both waterfall and agile methodologies
- Solid understanding of core Business Analysis techniques, including user journey mapping, process mapping, requirements gathering and the ability to design and facilitate collaborative workshops
- Interest or familiarity with artificial intelligence, particularly in areas such as large language models, agentic AI, or prompt engineering
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders
- Ability to work through complex problems, identifying underlying issues and opportunities for improvement
- A pragmatic approach that can adjust to changing priorities, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and make balanced decisions informed by evidence, stakeholder perspectives and organisational context

- The Data, Technology and Innovation (DTI) division enables the FCA to be a digital-first, data-led smart regulator by delivering a secure, agile, and cost-effective technology and data ecosystem that drives better decisions, transparency, and operational efficiency
- Sitting within DTI, the Advanced Analytics & Data Science Unit team develops the FCA's organisation-wide capability to drive an analytics-led regulatory approach
- Identify and shape high‑value opportunities for applying AI across the organisation, enabling smarter, more effective regulatory outcomes
- Facilitate structured discovery workshops with stakeholders to surface pain points, map processes and pinpoint where AI can deliver meaningful improvements
- Translate business challenges into clear functional and non‑functional requirements, working collaboratively with technical teams to design AI‑enabled solutions
- Manage and prioritise a pipeline of AI initiatives, partnering with data scientists and leadership to focus effort on the highest‑impact projects
- Contribute to the organisation’s wider AI adoption strategy through insight, stakeholder engagement and evidence‑based recommendations
- Advocate best practice in business analysis, promoting consistency, quality and knowledge sharing across the department
- Gain experience delivering experimental and innovative projects that address real‑world challenges such as financial crime and consumer protection
- Build a distinctive skill set at the intersection of AI, data, technology and regulation within a collaborative, learning‑focused environment

Our take
Developed on the back of the Financial Services Act of 2012, the Financial Conduct Authority is a regulatory body that acts as a regulator for financial firms, ensuring the integrity of the financial markets in the UK. Broadly focused on financial companies that provide consumer services, it’s governed by the Bank of England and therefore acts independently of the government.
The FCA is responsible for regulatory innovations, such as stronger customer authentication requirements, including biometric and code requirements for payments, that have clamped down on fraud and improved security for national consumers. The FCA also introduced the Anti-Money Laundering Supervision in 2017.
The organisation’s independence from government ensures its impartiality as a regulator. In the late 2010s, it set up the cryptoasset registration, a department responsible for ensuring the legality of crypto payments. This has become an important aspect of national counter terrorism measures, and exemplifies the complex and vital work that the organisation carries out.
