Role
Who you are
- 5-8 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, platform engineering or related role, including hands-on ownership of production cloud infrastructure
- Deep familiarity with AWS services (ECS, RDS, ElastiCache, S3, IAM, VPC, and others), multi-account AWS architecture, and HIPAA/compliance-aware infrastructure patterns
- Strong IaC skills - Terraform and/or Terragrunt in a production environment, including state management and drift detection
- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar), including safe deployment patterns like Blue/Green
- Solid scripting ability in Python and/or Bash
- Demonstrated experience with observability platforms (Datadog, CloudWatch, or equivalent)
- Ability to debug complex, cross-system issues without flailing
- Experience mentoring or guiding earlier-career engineers
- Strong written communication skills; comfortable writing design docs, runbooks, and async technical updates
- Familiarity with database operations (Postgres, Redis) in a production context
What the job involves
- Stellar Health is hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, DevOps, you will collaborate daily with fellow DevOps engineers and cross-functional engineering teams to build a scalable, high-performing foundation
- Our team exists to enable product engineering teams to deliver reliable, secure, and high-quality software quickly and safely. We build the foundation of our engineering organization, providing a delivery platform, shared infrastructure, architectural standards, and technical guidance
- Our mission is to provide a stable, scalable, and secure internal platform that empowers engineering teams to self-serve infrastructure, deploy confidently, and operate production systems with high reliability
- We apply DevOps principles, collaboration, automation, and shared ownership, but we don't own product features or business logic. Our role is to remove friction, improve reliability, and scale engineering effectiveness
- As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will take end-to-end ownership of core platform initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and partner cross-functionally across Engineering, Data, and Product
- AWS & Infrastructure as Code: Design and maintain HIPAA-compliant, multi-account AWS infrastructure using Terraform and Terragrunt with a strict GitOps mindset
- CI/CD & Deployments: Build resilient GitHub Actions pipelines and implement safe release strategies (e.g., Blue/Green, automated rollbacks) for Python/Django applications
- Service Reliability & Scaling: Ensure high availability, automated backups, and version upgrades for core data stores, including Postgres, ElastiCache (Redis), and OpenSearch
- Observability & Incident Response: Mature full-stack Datadog/CloudWatch telemetry, refine on-call workflows, lead blameless postmortems, and drive key metrics (MTTR, deployment frequency)
- Automated Security: Enforce least-privilege access and automated security guardrails across AWS, database layers, and GitHub
- Developer Enablement: Create paved-path tooling and self-serve infrastructure that reduce friction, shorten test cycles, and lower cognitive load for product teams
- Technical Leadership: Author clear design docs, conduct thorough code reviews, mentor team members, and proactively identify operational risks before they impact production
Our take
A problem in healthcare is little thought is given to the doctors and staff who coordinate all of the daily patient workflow, such as historical claims, pharmacy requests, lab work, testing and billing. Stellar Health aims to drastically reduce these 'chores' through a cloud-based platform on which primary care providers can offer value-based care through real-time information updates about patients.
The point-of-care workflow platform also strives to close the incentive gap between payors and care providers by helping practitioners earn more revenue for keeping patients healthy, rather than simply charging for procedures and treatments. While Stellar Health faces stiff competition from major players such as Siemens Healthcare and AthenaHealth, it has already made great ground in the market with over 1.1M patients across 37 states.
The company has secured significant investment from Primary Venture Partners and Point 72. This funding and its growing revenue are being put towards further scaling its operations and accelerating its product development. Operating in a rapidly growing industry which reached a value of over $4 billion in 2025, Stellar Health is in a good position for future growth and success.
