Who you are
- You are a confirmed developer, accountable and creative, you deeply care about the apps you are contributing to build and love quality products?
- Have shipped at least one full-fledged Android app
- Solid experience with Kotlin, coroutines, and flows
- Working knowledge of Jetpack Compose Solid computer science background (Data structures, multithreading, memory management, …)
- Effectively communicate your coding solutions and articulate the reasons for your decisions
- Be self-motivated to explore new technologies, apps, tools and frameworks
- Have a strong sense of User Experience Design and work effectively with UX and UI designers who are obsessive about our users
- Have a strong sense of testing best practices
- Excellent knowledge of Android SDK
- Experience building and releasing apps to millions of users
- Self-organized and ability to prioritize effectively
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a small fast-paced team
- Good professional English
Desirable
- Experience in UI/UX, passion for pixel perfect animations and designs
- Basics in Design System approach
- MVI, Clean archi knowledge
- Open-source contributions in existing projects

What the job involves
- We are looking for an Android developer to join the User Solutions Native team
- At Dailymotion, our team is responsible for building and maintaining the user-facing Dailymotion Native Android application
- We will give you the challenging opportunity to work with a team of experienced and passionate Android developers, dedicated to building a new outstanding user experience with a direct impact on business, in a collaborative environment that encourages every member of our team to bring their point of view to the table
- Work on cross-functional projects in an Agile environment and collaborate with Design, Product and other tech teams to build great features and a delightful user experience
- Design, implement and maintain Dailymotion Android App
- Analyze and optimize UI, networking and video streaming application code for efficiency and performance
- Release the app on Google play, make sure it works well for millions of users across the globe
- Stay up to date with the most important app metrics and feedbacks
- Work closely with iOS developers on transversal topics and missions
- Quick overview of our stack: Fully Kotlin with Coroutine / Flow – First steps of Jetpack Compose - MVP architecture - Multiple Android modules - Continuous integration with Bitrise and our in-house open-source tool (Kinta) - Dependency injection with Dagger - UI Testing with Espresso / Cucumber - Network stack based on GraphQL Client/API (Apollo) - Misc: JIRA, Confluence, Figma, Transifex, Firebase Crashlytics

Our take
In many ways, it's difficult to talk about Dailymotion without talking about YouTube, its most obvious competitor. And it is indeed worth noting that the company underwent a major change in recent years to build its own programmatic platform partially to compete more directly with its famous American counterpart.
However, the truth is the nature of modern content consumption means that Dailymotion need not obsess over YouTube’s user base. There’s enough of an audience - at least 4 billion people by some estimates - for both video-streaming giants to co-exist.
That means Dailymotion has been able to experiment with different strategies. For example, the platform indisputably has better relationships than YouTube with its corporate partners, often engaging in bespoke product development to facilitate deeper relationships.
Perhaps the biggest competitive threat for Dailymotion will be not from its rival video-streaming platform, but from entirely new forms of internet-based entertainment. Short-form video content from platforms like TikTok is already siphoning away the younger cohort of users from longer-format video providers, a trend Dailymotion will need to address in the future.
