Who you are

2+ years Python experience (or if less than 2 years, demonstrated ability to excel in Python and 2+ years working in other languages)
In addition to software engineering experience, the candidate must have a law degree or professional experience in the legal industry (e.g. paralegal)
Proficiency with APIs and SQL is a major plus
Experience practicing law is a major plus
Creative and clear writing skills

What the job involves

Orchestrate LLM-driven experiences that delight our customers
Develop Python code that interacts with state-of-the-art LLMs
Write & iterate prose prompts for the LLM that leverage your legal domain knowledge
Develop Python code that interacts with data sources & services (APIs, SQL databases, etc.)
Ensure trust and reliability at all layers in the backend stack, with particular attention to LLM outputs

Casetext was founded by a group of litigators who identified legal research as a particular area of weakness for legal tech and have since built the company to become the leading provider of A.I.-powered legal technology. Its software automates steps in the legal process, allowing attorneys to work more efficiently for their clients. The company is continually innovating as it attempts to combat weaknesses in legal research procedure - its AllSearch product uses neural nets to provide a concept-based search tool, using AI to avoid irrelevant results in searches.

With substantial funding raised from a number of investors, including an Am Law 100 law firm, Casetext has been able to expand its product offerings and in early 2023 announced the launch of its AI legal assistant, CoCounsel. The first of its kind, this product opens many doors for attorneys when delegating tasks and leverages Casetexts position in the market.
