Role
Who you are
- 2+ years of experience working as a bookkeeper/management accountant in industry or in the outsourcing department of an accountancy practice
- Demonstrated experience working with international businesses selling tangible stock
- Foundational training on accounting, either through a degree program or from previous employment
- Detailed knowledge of accounting rules, high proficiency with double-entry bookkeeping
- Advanced knowledge of Excel
- A can-do, no excuses attitude
- A love of lean, well-oiled processes
- High motivation to join an early stage, high growth business
- An interest in software technology and pharma
- Experience with FRS 102 (UK GAAP) would be plus
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Accountant to be the operational owner of our accounts
- They will be the point-person for keeping our books accurate, overseeing data entry performed by an outsourced firm, managing and overseeing weekly payments and cash position, preparing indirect tax (VAT & Intrastat) filings, and preparing financial reports
- They will be working directly with our Finance Manager and the Founders
- Being the key point of contact with the outsourced bookkeepers and oversee their activities
- Review postings in the general ledger to ensure accuracy of relevant account and VAT codes, etc
- Perform weekly reconciliations of key accounts, including but not limited to:
- Bank
- Payroll control accounts
- Trade receivable & payable accounts; and
- Other asset / liability accounts
- Be the data owner of our books, particularly for sales and vendor invoices
- Prepare regular indirect taxes (VAT and Intrastat) reports for different jurisdictions according to the required frequency (monthly to annually)
- Make journal entries as required for payroll, cost of sales, and other requirements
- Liaise with customers and suppliers to reconcile balances against statement of accounts
- Managing trade receivables and monitoring potential bad-debt
- Proactively liaising with customers to ensure timely recovery of our receivables
- Preparation of payment runs to ensure all vendors are paid promptly and accurately
- Support our annual audit and other internal data and analysis requests
- Oversee order taking activities and associated invoicing activities
- Manage our supplier invoices process, including supplier’s qualification (i.e., onboarding of new suppliers) and invoice approvals by cost centre owners
- Reporting to Finance Manager
