Role
Who you are
- We're looking for someone who brings strong engineering skills and a product mindset—someone who cares about user impact, focusing on why we're building something just as much as how
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, primarily focused on building web applications or SaaS products
- Strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript
- Experience working with Vue.js or other modern frontend frameworks (e.g. React, Angular)
- Experience in designing, building, and consuming robust APIs (e.g. RESTful, GraphQL)
- Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL) and SQL
- Experience shipping features end-to-end in a product-driven environment, demonstrating ownership from concept to deployment
- Experience with modern testing practices and frameworks (e.g. Jest, Vitest, Cypress)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of working effectively in cross-functional teams
- You’re curious and you love learning new things
- You value feedback, believe in continuous learning, and enjoy working with others to create a positive team environment
Desirable
- Experience developing features specifically for enterprise software (e.g. Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Single Sign-On (SSO))
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience contributing to or working with open-source projects
- Familiarity with workflow automation concepts or platforms
What the job involves
- As a Senior Product Engineer on the Payday team (Enterprise features), you won't just write code—you’ll solve business problems for our enterprise users
- Your primary focus will be on designing, building, and delivering high-impact features that address the needs of larger teams using n8n
- You’ll own features end-to-end and work across the stack, collaborating closely with Product and Design to translate complex requirements into robust, scalable, and user-friendly solutions
- To give you a better idea of the impact you can have, here are some examples of features and improvements recently delivered for our enterprise users:
- Centralised insights dashboard providing administrators with a real-time overview of instance health, and workflow execution performance, enabling better monitoring, visibility, and confidence in managing large-scale n8n deployments
- Enhanced Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) allowing allowing administrators to precisely control user access to workflows, credentials, and execution data, improving security and compliance
- Git-backed Environments to enable teams to adopt safer development lifecycles (e.g. Development, Staging, Production), allowing controlled versioning and promotion of workflows without impacting live automation workflows

A recent trend in IT has been an increased effort to streamline workflows by improving integration between the multiple apps which people use. n8n was founded so that users can find a balance between building systems and having autonomy in their work whilst saving time through the rapid development of complex workflows.
n8n is certainly not the first to pick up on this trend - competition includes startups like Zapier, RapidAPI, and Tray.io- but n8n believes that its product is a cut above the rest of the market, offering more flexibility and robustness at a reduced price. The company also has the leading low-code automation tool in this field.
n8n's long-term approach to the market is set to be based on two key strategies, focusing efforts on its flagship platform, ensuring that it stays ahead of the competition in meeting the demand for its integration services whilst also pushing towards diversification. It plans to launch a version of its platform under a SaaS subscription model. n8n also looks to introduce a network of consulting, support and integration services, and if the company can execute this joint approach well, it will be well-set to continue pushing ahead in the market.
