Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, information technology, information systems, or similar. Master's degree in a related field preferred
- 5+ years working in production level environments, preferably in DevOps, SRE, or IT operations
- Must have a broad AWS and GCP cloud native experience along with Terraform
- Must have experience with managing containerized infrastructure in Kubernetes
- Experience with Vault, Packer or any other HashiCorp tools is desirable
- Experience with SQL, MySQL, Postgress and Mongo databases
- Experience in designing and deploying a variety of data sovereignty-driven (e.g. GDPR, etc.) designs
- Should collaborate extensively with other engineers to build tools and systems that support our services and allow engineers to deliver high quality software
- Significant experience in managing Linux based infrastructure
- Experience at least in two or more scripting languages is desired
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a small, multi-disciplined, fast-paced team environment
- The ability to consistently deliver results with quick turnaround
- Strong spirit of innovation, self-starter, independent, and with ability to come up
- With solutions to meet business problems
- Strong desire to learn new things and pass knowledge acquired onto others

- Knowledge of streaming video delivery, video encoding workflows, video origin architecture, and issues of scale for video delivery
- Big data and payments domain
- Key security concepts such as cryptography, authentication, authorization, security protocols
- Typescript / Golang knowledge
What the job involves
- As a Staff DevOps Engineer on the platform team, your day is centered around ensuring the scalability, efficiency, and reliability of the mission-critical systems that power our streaming platform
- You play a critical role in the design of our platform architecture and set the standards for what engineering excellence looks like on the Platform team
- Your expertise in AWS, GCP, Terraform, and Kubernetes enables you to tackle complex challenges, supporting our legacy solutions while also innovating with serverless and containerized technologies
- In collaboration with other engineers, you develop tools and systems that support services and facilitate the delivery of high-quality software
- Balancing the needs of the business with operational excellence, you constantly strive to improve the technology platform and infrastructure, all while showcasing your excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment

In recent decades, anime - encompassing Japanese, Korean, and Chinese animation 0 has transitioned from a niche interest to a formidable industry, boasting a global market worth approximately $30B. Despite this growth, distribution has historically posed challenges, with series and films often reaching overseas audiences through disparate channels, if at all. Crunchyroll emerged to address this issue by consolidating the largest collection of anime into a single streaming service.
Sony's acquisition of Crunchyroll in 2021 for $1.75B expanded the platform's reach, integrating Sony's extensive animation library into its offerings. this move also positioned Crunchyroll for heightened competition against streaming giant Netflix, known for its substantial investments in anime production and acquisition. Currently, Crunchyroll maintains an unrivaled library of anime content, boasting over 44,000 episodes that have attracted over 0M paying subscribers.
While Crunchyroll initially offered a free, ad-supported tier to its vast community, it appears poised to phase out this option, transitioning to a subscription-based model for all new series. Despite this shift, the platform has implemented a global reduction in fees to stimulate subscription uptake. The success of this strategy remains to be seen, but past experiences with companies like Hulu suggest that it may drive subscription growth and mitigate piracy
