Role
Who you are
- Commercial experience using Swift or Objective-C, with real exposure to different platforms and OS versions
- Experience working within a Mobile Continuous Integration framework
- Experience with Unit (XCTest) and Integration Testing
- Experience in consuming a RESTful API
- Experience with the VIPER architecture
- Experience using SwiftUI
- Experience with A/B testing and solving complex experiments
What the job involves
- Depop is hiring a mid-level iOS engineer at Depop to join one of our Product teams to build new functionality as well as improve existing features through a data driven A/B testing approach
- You will be contributing to the iOS project in Swift alongside a Senior iOS engineer, leveraging our Mobile Continuous Integration pipeline, with Unit and Integration testing built in, to iterate on our iOS application to serve our millions of users
- You will work in a small multidisciplinary product team that is supported by a much wider community of Depop iOS developers, insights teams, product managers and platform engineers
- We’re open for this role to be based remotely from anywhere in the UK, or on a hybrid basis within our London HQ or Manchester office!
- Support the team to deliver weekly features/upgrades
- Take ownership of the search experience of the iOS app, including monitoring and resolving issues
- Support the A/B testing workflow and collaborate with the insights team to ensure high quality
- Work closely with design, backend teams, QA and product management to ensure that new features are implemented efficiently and effectively
- Refactor existing code to leverage the latest developments in the iOS framework
- Communicate any engineering challenges faced when supporting a wide range of devices

The experience on Depop is what you'd expect from platforms such as Instagram. The focus on social, creators and influencers has created a very high level of engagement.
Depop was quick to realise the value in power users and has focused efforts there (where people are generating up to $100,000 in annual income for themselves by selling items). The popularity of social platforms making individuals into entrepreneurs will likely attract interest from Instagram and Pinterest. This may pose a challenge for Depop as these competitors will be in a strong position to leverage their networks.
The company has been acquired by Etsy and is now focusing on strategic partnerships in several industries to keep market share flowing in.
