Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of professional experience designing, building, and/or maintaining software and data infrastructure, preferably with extensive experience using AWS
- Strong command of python and familiarity with web frameworks like Django, Flask, or Falcon
- Experience working with container orchestration tools, ideally AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) or Elastic Container Service (ECS)
- Strong proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Pulumi or Terraform
- Evangelism for cloud security best practices
- Experience with streaming and IoT platforms like Kafka, Kinesis, and AWS IoT
- Curiosity, creativity, and tenacity when it comes to problem solving
- Experience working at both growth-phase startups and mid-to-large enterprises
What the job involves
- The Platform team, within our Software Engineering team, is responsible for deploying and maintaining common, cloud-based software and data infrastructure used across the company
- As the first platform infrastructure engineer at Form, your early projects may include creating deployment patterns for microservices, down-selecting a streaming or IoT platform, or spinning up a K8s cluster for our workflow orchestration tool using infrastructure-as-code (IaC)
- Lead the design, deployment, and maintenance of software infrastructure used across Form to advance hardware product development, manufacturing, field operations, business development analytics, operations analytics, and more
- Collaborate with other teams across the company to define infrastructure requirements for products including web applications, data pipelines, machine learning models, physics simulation models, and grid planning models
- Architect secure, reliable, and resilient solutions to meet the above requirements
- Establish standards for performance, up-time, and security of software infrastructure, and ensure these are met with the help of the Platform team and other Software teams
- Implement IaC for existing infrastructure when possible, and lead and advise on IaC deployment for new infrastructure

Form Energy’s battery uses Iron-air technology that currently offers energy storage capacities and operational costs comparable to legacy power plants. In addition to improvements in cost and consistent electricity access, Form Energy’s batteries are scalable, portable, and safe - offering a unique approach to revolutionising renewable energy storage towards a greener future.
Although renewable energy storage technology remains an emerging industry, a variety of competitors are also driving developments of battery storage technology. However, Form Energy continues to be a key leader in this space, bagging significant investment that will enable it to build its first manufacturing plant and begin selling to customers. Form Energy's progress is highlighted by a deal with Xcel Energy to deploy iron-air battery systems at two of its retiring coal plant sites and with Puget Sound Energy in 2024, to help the company deploy multi-day energy storage systems.
