Company mission
To accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence.
Role
Who you are
- 3+ years of professional industry experience building with AI tools, with measurable outcomes
- A track record of getting a team to adopt a tool or workflow you introduced
- Experience turning a personally built internal tool using AI into something a team relies on
- Strong software engineering fundamentals
- Genuine enthusiasm for AI coding tools and experience across multiple tools (Claude Code, Codex, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
Desirable
- Prior exposure to Cloud storage, networking, or infrastructure environments
- Cross functional working experience across DevX, Product Management, Engineering
What the job involves
- Crusoe is building the AI infrastructure that powers the next generation of intelligence, and we empower our own engineers to operate at the same frontier. The Storage engineering team is the backbone of Crusoe’s AI cloud platform
- You’ll have real latitude here. You’ll build AI powered tools that make storage operations and engineering workflows faster and smarter, and you’ll shape how an entire engineering team works by driving adoption of tools like Claude Code, Codex; mentoring engineers one on one, and removing the friction that keeps great tools from getting used
- If you love building and using AI tools, and love getting others just as excited about them, please apply
- Build AI-powered automation for storage operations and workflows that reduces manual engineering toil
- Drive adoption of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, and others) across the Storage team — creating use cases, lowering friction, and making the case for new tools the team isn’t using yet
- Help engineers use AI to handle test creation, correctness checks, and code review, so developers spend less time on repetitive work
- Coach and mentor other engineers on effective use of AI tools, rather than just using them solo
- Partner closely with DevX on tooling and platform-level changes (CI, broader infra) — this role drives adoption and use cases within Storage, not ownership of DevX-owned platform systems
Our take
Crusoe is tackling one of the biggest challenges facing the digital age: the enormous energy demand of data centres and AI infrastructure. As AI models grow more powerful, they require immense computing power (and therefor electricity) to train and operate. This surge in energy use has put some pressure on power grids, driven up costs, and raised environmental concerns. Crusoe is on a mission to make this process more sustainable by finding smarter, cleaner, and more efficient ways to power the data centres that drive modern computing.
The company started out by putting wasted energy to work. Originally known as Crusoe Energy, it captured natural gas that would otherwise be burned off ("flared") at remote oil sites and used it to power modular data centres. Today, Crusoe has evolved into a major player in AI infrastructure, designing and operating large-scale data centres near renewable or stranded energy sources. It's now one of a handful of "neocloud" companies (next-generation cloud providers focused on flexible, efficient computing for AI workloads). And its facilities are helping tech giants like OpenAI handle the massive computing requirements of training advanced AI models.
Recently, Crusoe has attracted some huge investor attention, tripling its valuation to over $10B and raising almost $1.4B in its 2025 funding round. It's building OpenAI's first major US data centre campus and even experimenting with bold new frontiers. In partnership with Starcloud, Crusoe plans to deploy the world's first space-based cloud computing infrastructure, powered by solar energy and orbiting the Earth by 2027. If successful, this could redefine how and where computing happens, opening up a cleaner, virtually limitless source of energy for AI's next generation.
