Company mission

We’re on a mission. And it’s money without borders. Instant, convenient, transparent and — eventually — free.

Role

Who you are

  • Experience of financial markets technology stacks, for example: treasury management, asset management, banks or scale up fintechs
  • Familiar with Market Risk metrics and controls
  • Familiar with middle office and back office operations for Treasuries and Financial Institutions
  • Extremely familiar with FX Spot, FX Outrights and FX Swaps including end to end execution, and booking in trading and finance systems
  • It would be great if you are familiar with cash management products such as money market funds, bonds, and the systems in this space
  • Other financial instrument experience is nice to have but not required
  • Multiple years of product building experience, either as an engineering or product or operations leader in a hands on role
  • Strong individual contributor, willing to get your hands dirty and build product yourself. You might have a background that shows you have a superpower (engineer, dealer, analyst, financial, serial entrepreneur, etc)
  • Hands on with data. You have defined and moved KPIs for an area, and done this multiple times

  • Capable of influencing stakeholders across Wise including Global Product, Pricing, Regional and Risk
  • Flexible in approach - not stuck to a “by the book” product lead role definition
  • Understands how to grow existing team members as well as hiring and onboarding team members
  • Responsible for leading product managers in the past
  • Enthusiastic about learning new skills to unblock yourself and your team
  • Analytically-minded, can clearly frame problems, articulate hypotheses and solutions, measure them and has used the tools to be able to do this
  • Capable of communicating technical or numerical concepts to a wide audience

  • You’ll help to discover the biggest problems and opportunities in Treasury Markets so that we can help more customers move more money across borders and solve more problems around money movement
  • You’ll solve these problems through technology, analytics, controls, and operations for our FX and Asset Management
  • The team has product development hubs in London and Tallinn, and operational hubs in Singapore, Austin, London and Tallinn

Our take

Wise started when the two founders realised they would be better off trading Estonian kroons for British pounds (and vice versa) between themselves rather than going through banks. That was back in 2011, and they've since grown Wise into one of Europe's most successful tech businesses, exchanging billions of currency every month.

Wise rapidly grew by solving a significant problem for customers, who lost too much money to banks when exchanging currency. They've attracted investment from some of the best investors in the world, from Andreesen Horowitz to Index Ventures and even Richard Branson.

The challenge for Wise will be maintaining their edge and brand power in a market that's becoming increasingly crowded with new entrants (like Revolut and Monzo) and incumbents (traditional banks) trying to catch up. To do so, the company is ramping up its digital and marketing strategies, as well as pushing for further development of its existing products.
