Role
Who you are
- We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head of Investor Relations to lead and execute our investor relations strategy and contribute to the company's growth
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in investor relations, investment banking, or a related field, with a proven track record in M&A and/or corporate finance
- Strong understanding of financial markets, accounting principles, and valuation methodologies
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex financial information to diverse audiences
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with investors, analysts, Board members, and potential M&A partners
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with public company reporting requirements
- Ability to thrive in an environment with ambiguity and adapt to changing priorities
- Demonstrated ability to run processes on time,, ensuring smooth and efficient execution of tasks
- MBA or CFA is a plus
What the job involves
- This critical role will report directly to the CFO and will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with investors and the financial community, while also playing a key role in shaping our financial strategy and supporting corporate development initiatives
- Additionally, Vimeo envisions this leader being involved in corporate development outreach and analysis with a particular focus on the shareholder impacts of strategic initiatives
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the company's financial performance, industry trends, and competitive landscape
- Execute a comprehensive and continually improving investor relations strategy that aligns with the company's overall business objectives
- Manage all communications with investors, including earnings calls, investor conferences, roadshows, and one-on-one meetings
- Prepare investor presentations, press releases, and other investor-related materials in a timely manner and with extreme focus on accuracy
- Manage internal stakeholder alignment on all investor outreach materials
- Build and maintain relationships with sell-side analysts, institutional investors, and other key stakeholders
- Stay abreast of best practices in investor relations and corporate communications
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including finance, legal, and communications teams
- Effectively communicate with and navigate the Board of Directors on investor relations matters
- Identify and evaluate potential M&A opportunities that align with the company's strategic objectives
- Conduct financial modeling and valuation analysis to assess the potential benefits and risks of M&A transactions
- Participate in due diligence activities and negotiations
- Support the integration of acquired companies
- Monitor industry trends and competitive landscape to identify potential partnerships and alliances
- Partner with FP&A to develop and refine financial forecasts and models, but also demonstrate the ability to work independently and resourcefully to gather and analyze data
- Help operationalize financial strategies by translating high-level plans into actionable steps and driving execution across different departments
Our take
Vimeo was founded by filmmakers who wanted an efficient way to share videos with others. It is more creator-oriented than YouTube, with professional software, technology, and tools for creators to produce, share, and sell their videos.
In 2007, it became the first online video sharing site to support HD playback for consumers, updating to 4K playback in 2016. Vimeo's app has also been updated to allow recording and live streaming as well as watching video. This service is aimed predominantly at enterprise customers although they have millions of small-time users too.
Vimeo has risen to become the world's biggest ad-free open video platform, with significant funding that has allowed it to expand operations and build up the business. Recently, however, the company has found itself struck by the effects of the economic downturn felt by much of the industry, and has been forced to reduce its workforce - a step taken to ensure it comes out of this rough time "a stronger company". On top of this, it received a hefty fine for failure to remove copyrighted content back in 2019, after losing an appeal against the initial ruling.
In 2024, Vimeo is rumoured to be in the process of acquisition by leading mobile app developer Bending Spoons, which could signify a major shift in the tech landscape.
