Who you are
- You’ve worked in a privacy-compliant environment and have experience using approaches such as data anonymization, heatmapping, data extrapolation, or other strategies to collect meaningful insights while respecting user privacy
- You've successfully implemented and managed an experimentation program, including designing and sharing processes, developing and overseeing a roadmap, implementing and managing an experimentation tool, training new users, and collaborating with product teams
- You enjoy solving problems and improving processes and take initiative to do these things even when ownership is ambiguous
- You’re comfortable taking the lead on complex projects and collaborating with creativity and kindness to solve challenges with no easy answers
- You get excited talking about conversion funnels and cohort analyses, but what you really care about is making a product experience the best it can be for its users
- You enjoy, and are skilled at, telling a story with data, effectively communicating insights to a variety of audiences
- You have extensive experience with data tools such as Amplitude, Segment, Looker, Google Analytics, and Mouseflow, or similar
- You have a solid understanding of statistics, and you’re comfortable using SQL, Python, R, or other statistical languages
- You have a commitment to scientific rigor and data integrity, while also being flexible, creative, and solutions-oriented when working with stakeholders
What the job involves
- This role will lead the product analytics and experimentation function at Kickstarter, reporting to the Director of Strategy & Analytics
- This is a leadership role requiring vision and the capacity for self-direction, but the position will not manage direct reports initially due to the small size of the team
- However, the team and company are growing and the hope is for this role to manage others in the future
- Reinvent product analytics at Kickstarter in a privacy-first world, pioneering and evangelizing best practices for collecting meaningful insights about user behavior while respecting individual privacy preferences and regulations
- Design and implement a new experimentation program, leading a team of stakeholders to select and implement a new tool, co-design a process with peers on the product and design teams, manage an experimentation roadmap, and design a training and onboarding curriculum for staff
- Manage our product analytics program including data, tools, and processes, collaborating with product teams to identify strategic opportunities that inform our product roadmap
- Act as the company's expert on experimentation, promoting best practices, leading the experiment design process, setting success metrics, and guiding the interpretation of results
- Craft reports and presentations for a variety of audiences
- Create and monitor dashboards and alerts

By ensuring creatives retain 100% ownership of their work, the company simplifies the fundraising process by eliminating the need for long and complicated grant application processes, donors asking creators to make modifications, or last-minute edit requests from investors. Since its launch in 2009, 22 million people around the globe have pledged over $7.2 billion to help fund projects such as the early version of Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag.
