Role
Who you are
- You have 3+ years of experience in fintech, private equity, investment banking or consulting, bringing strong analytical and financial modelling skills to the table
- You know how to build interpersonal relationships and can influence and steer cross-functional discussions and decisions for real financial impact
- You are always looking to learn something new and are interested in the details
- You remain positive and solution focused and keep trying, even when the situation is tough, something didn’t work the first time, or a mistake was made
- You have shown strong project management skills in the past, e.g. driving important projects/initiatives
- You are familiar with SQL or excited to improve your SQL skills
What the job involves
- As Upvest enters the next stage of growth, we are looking for an exceptional Financial Analyst
- You will join one of two teams: FPA&I (Financial Planning, Analysis & Impact), where you will drive strategic financial planning, develop forecasting models and translate complex financial data into actionable business insights, or Commercial Finance, focusing on pricing and topline
- You will have the opportunity to work directly with our CFO Julian Lange and other experienced Finance leaders on the team building out the more analytical, forward-looking side of the Finance department
- Upvest has entered its stage of hypergrowth, so we now have a lot more live data to analyze and base our financial planning and decisions on. This is the time to refine our financial planning and analysis routines, especially when it comes to revenues and supporting our commercial activities
- Partner with all other departments across the company, especially Sales/Growth, to ensure we grow strongly and “in the right way”, as well as to achieve a high, “software like” contribution margin as we scale
- Implement world-class planning and analysis systems “beyond Excel”
- Learn analytical finance the better way: this function focuses on making financial impact, which is why we believe that FP&A goes hand-in-hand with “Impact”
- Tons of ways to leave your mark and make impact: We’re only a few years into our journey, so lots of things in Finance and across the company can still be implemented and developed:
- Coordinate complex and high impactful decision making around business plans, budgets and scenarios together with colleagues from all other departments
- Drive positive client solutions with sharp analysis on pricing, revenue, and unit economics
- Support the team with partner/vendor negotiations
- Incorporate smart short-cuts & automations for recurring activities (closing, reporting, deal support, etc.)
- Be part of a top-notch Finance function: We already built a strong team of 11 people, which means you can focus your energy on your core responsibilities and always have the support of true Finance experts at your fingertips

Our take
Upvest is a fintech startup that empowers financial services companies to provide their customers with access to a full range of financial assets, including stocks, ETFs and crypto products. Upvest's investment API integrates seamlessly with its customers existing systems and is designed to scale easily, freeing companies from the need to develop their own brokerage and custody infrastructure from scratch.
As one of the few companies in Germany that is licensed for both the custody of traditional securities and crypto, Upvest is able to provide its services across Europe. Its solution has been readily adopted by some major players in the space including Ginmon, Vivid and ABN AMRO.
Upvest is backed by a number of Europe's largest tech VCs (Earlybird, Notion Capital, Partech, HV Capital, ABN AMRO Ventures) alongside American investment monolith BlackRock. In 2023 it closed a VC investment round which the company has claimed is one of the largest in the German fintech arena. Its impressive capital raise will go some way to achieving Upvest's goals of profitability as it expands into the US market.
