Who you are
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Have built and shipped production software that people rely on
- Have experience building frontend, backend, or full-stack applications
- Have experience with one or more modern programming languages such as TypeScript, Python, Go, Java, C#, Rust, or Ruby
- Have experience designing scalable applications, optimizing performance, and solving complex technical problems
- Have experience with relational databases, API design, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Use AI as a force multiplier to explore ideas, prototype solutions, accelerate development, and improve engineering workflows
- Enjoy working directly with stakeholders to understand problems, shape solutions, and deliver business value
- Communicate clearly, collaborate effectively, and are comfortable making decisions in ambiguous environments
- Care as much about business outcomes as technical excellence
- Are naturally curious and excited to continuously learn, improve, and raise the bar for yourself and those around you

- At Clutch, we believe advances in AI are fundamentally changing how great products are built. Traditional handoffs between product, design, and engineering are giving way to smaller, faster teams where builders can take ideas from concept to production in days instead of months
- Our engineers don't just write code, they own outcomes. That means working directly with stakeholders to understand the problem, shaping the solution, thinking through design and user experience, and building scalable products end to end, using strong engineering principles and AI-powered development tools. We're looking for people who see a broken process or an unanswered question and feel compelled to fix it, not wait for it to land in their queue

- Our team builds with technologies like TypeScript, React, Express, PostgreSQL, and AWS, but we're far more interested in exceptional engineers than perfect technology matches. - Own products from discovery through delivery, partnering directly with stakeholders to understand problems, design thoughtful solutions and user experiences, build scalable software, and measure business impact
- Design technical solutions and build scalable software using strong engineering principles and AI-powered development tools
- Influence product direction, architecture, workflows, and user experience—not just implementation
- Build reliable, scalable systems while optimizing application performance and resolving bottlenecks
- Design and evolve APIs, relational database schemas, and system architecture with long-term scalability and maintainability in mind
- Use AI as part of your everyday engineering workflow to prototype ideas, accelerate development, improve code quality, and iterate faster
- Continuously evaluate and adopt new tools, AI capabilities, and engineering practices that help the team build faster and better
- Make thoughtful technical decisions that balance speed, quality, and long-term maintainability
- Collaborate through design discussions, code reviews, and knowledge sharing while maintaining ownership of your work

Our take
Buying used cars is notoriously something of a minefield - but used car sales platform Clutch is making big strides to sweep away the risk. The marketplace lists certified vehicles for users to shops, and has home delivery, along with a full carfax, insurance, warranty, and optional financing.
The used car sales market has been undergoing something of a digital overhaul in recent years, with a flurry of used car marketplaces cropping up to offer similar services. Canada, however, remains relatively non-competitive compared with the U.S. and Europe. This means Clutch has the luxury of importing a tried-and-tested model into a relatively spacious market.
Clutch will, however, have to face off with close competitor Canada Drives. The two companies enjoy comparable levels of funding and are currently the top competitors in Canada’s used car market. With this market hotting up significantly, Clutch will need to tread carefully to ensure they come out on top.
